My favorite Color, black.

This car has 1100 miles on it, is a month old and had gone through 2 washes before I laid my hands on it. The car rolled off of the truck while the owner was signing papers.

Upon first inspection during the day, it looked pretty decent. So I brought my light stand out to get a closer inspection of the clear. As soon as I turned the light on, the swirls appeared like crazy. The owner, a friend of mine, said immediately, "Oh man turn that light off!!" haha.

I told him I'd help him out and get that car the way it should be. So I went to work.

Since the car was so new, after a wash, dry and IPA wipe down, I decided it did not need the clay and I could go ahead and jump to the minor correction.

I tried to use an AIO, XMT 360 with a white pad, and it did not clear up much. So I switched to an orange pad and it still did not get enough out that I was happy with.

I used the PC 7424XP with:
Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover w/Orange and white pads
Wolfgang Finishing Glaze w/white pad
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant w/ Grey pad

Prep/cleanup/finishing touches:
IPA wipedown between each polish
Pinnacle's XMT 360 Spray Wax
Pinnacle's XMT 360 Finishing Instant Detailer

Tires/Wheels:
Zep Tireless Shine
Wheel Wax

I wish I could have topped it off with Carnauba but he didn't want to leave it overnight.

Quick note: I hate Chevy's "Polished wheels". Which is pretty much just a clear coat over some aluminum alloy. Crap. Always gets oxidated and stains very easily, and not very shiny. They should have gone back to chrome!

Many people have said not to seal fresh paint, but as far as factory paint goes I have been throwing sealant/wax on it right away and never had a problem till I sold the cars. I suppose it's just as arguable as "how to break in your new engine". Which everyone has a different view on it.

Let me know what you guys think!

Before shots. Unfortunately I was limited in space so I could only get detail shots:

And one of my favorite shots. Top right corner is the cage of the halogen light I was using.

It's a definite improvement man! I have one too and I swirled the poop out of it because I didn't know how to wash it right. Looks like you did a terrific job man!

It's black it will need it ever other month ! Get used to it ! :)

Nice job. Looks like Wolfgang Twins did the job.

Thanks everyone, I am still new to this detail business, have TONS to learn, but I love doing it! Definitely an addiction.

I can't stop placing orders haha.

Yes black will need this every month but that means return customers!

My vette just got back getting wet-sanded to get the factory orange peel off, it's also black. I hit it with the Deep Gloss Sealant today and will try DP's MaxWax tomorrow and try to take pictures. It's supposed to rain all week so we'll see what happens.

I really want to try Dodo's wax line. What do you guys recommend for a good wax? I'd like to place another order!

Get Pinnacle Souveran for black paint.

Get Pinnacle Souveran for black paint.
I could have sworn I read somewhere a review that said that Souveran wasn't the best for black paint.. there's a BOGO on it right now that's why I held off on it. But maybe I'll add that to my order!

Love that car, and in black only makes it that much better!

I'll take the Z06 please! lol

Lookin good man.
Haha, that's actually mine, in all her dirty glory.

I put a seal on her last night and will wax her tonight when I get home from work. Hopefully this weekend the sun will be out to take a few good shots of the car.. I don't have any since I've owned it.

PLEASE post them. Black C6 Z06 is just stunning. I love them

07 Z, yes I do, under the same name. I was so close to getting a silver one, then it was a Cyber Grey, but I couldn't get away from black. With that said I am never buying another black car. It spends as much time getting cleaned as I drive it!

I knew your name sounded familiar.

I had a black C6 prior to the Z. Black is extremely nice, but since I drive my Z a lot, there's no way I wanted another black car.

07Z, silver is a beautiful color it really shows the body curves of that car and I love it. Actually I just love it period haha.

pushtiulk, thank you for the compliments and overall working time took me about 7-8 hours. It was a period over 3 days, I was doing it at night and it was in the high 30s, low 40s here when I was doing it and I was having hell trying to break down the polish. Since the polish would not fully turn transparent as it would during a nice day, I made a test spot and counted my passes, then timed them and I gave each one about 3-6min at full speed on my PCXP depending on the severity of the correction. It seemed to work pretty well but I had to redo small areas because it left some micromarring. I also cut the amount of polish I put on the pad from a quarter size to about a nickel or else I had to clean my pad twice per panel.

I also spent about an hour just playing with different pad/polish combos trying to figure out what the clear would take.. I had read that the Camaro's clear was hard like the Vette. I'd say from personal experience that it's slightly softer. I pretty much have to use meg's 105's abrasive level with an orange pad if I want to get anything done.

I am doing 2 C6Z06's this weekend for a customer of mine, one's blue and the other is black, I will try to get some more pics up here.

One day when I get free time I'll actually sit down and jewel up my car and take some good pics.

You must have read the review incorrectly or someone posted it incorrectly; as Souveran Paste wax is known for being OUTSTANDING on black paint. Another thing that is outstanding on black paint is to use Menzerna PO85rd (85rd) as your final finishing polish. Use it with a blue LC CCS pad after your done polishing with your WG TSR/FG or m105/m205. Use it when you have the finish nearly perfect and don't think it can get any better. This will (jewel the paint) or AMP up the shine and sweeten the finish:props:

By the way great work...Car looks sweet:dblthumb2:
