Detailed: 2003 Tahoe (Optimum's Poli-Seal Review)

I went to mailbox last night to find me a little package. Jen (FloridaNative) sent me a sample of Optimum's new Poli-Seal to test and review. I've heard alot of nice things from this new chemical. Some are using it as a one-stepper since it has abrasives that remove light oxidation and light swirls. Some are using it after heavy polishing to remove marring and seal the paint in one step. This customer just wanted some protection for the upcoming winter. She wanted no compounding or no interior work done.......just a wash and sealant.

Here's the process and review....

Start Time and temperature:
9:00 am and 38 degrees
Finish Time and temperature:
11:00 am and 53 degrees
Payment:
125.00

Washed with Meguiar's NXT car wash
(Used wash ShMitt with a single bucket)

Optimum's Poli-Seal
(Used EDGE2K Green "experimental" pad at #5 setting)
First off, it smells great. Lightly banana scented. I took a small amount and rubbed through my finger. I didn't feel that many abbrasives but there were some. Using the EDGE green pad, I used medium pressure with slow overlapping passes. Pretty much just like if you were going to polish. I immediately saw water spots removed as well minor swirls. This vehicle was HEAVILY swirled so anything would be an improvement. As the Poli-Seal started haze, I raised up on the pressure and started some fast motions. I then removed the haze to reveal a super-slick, reflective finish. This porduct is my new one-stepper. I really was not that surprised with it's performance; I expected it with Optimum's successful products.

It really cleaned the paint......just look:

Meguiar's Detailer Line APC
(4:1 for bugs and lower areas of the paint)
Meguiar's Detailer Line Super Degreaser
(4:1 for tires and wheel wells)
Meguiar's Detailer Line Wheel Brightner
(4:1 for wheels. Used Meguiar's Versa Wheel Brush.)
Armor All Extreme Shine Tire Foam
(Tires and wheel wells. Also used on running boards. Wiped down with damp MF mitt.)

I'm glad that it worked so well. I'm really excited about using it too! I was hoping to try it out on my mom's car while she was visiting here, but her visit wound up being shorter than I had anticipated so there was no time to do her car on this visit.

That's his kind way of saying I went nuts with the tape! lol My grandmother taught me well! It used to take me 20 minutes to cut through the tape on her Christmas gifts to me!

So what can this replace when considering bluk detailing? Use a heavy compount, lighter compound, and then the poly seal? Or can you go straight from the heavy compound to the poly seal since it contains miniscule abbrasives?

This application here will replace my Meg's Cleaner Wax. On one's that need the compound>polish>wax/seal it will replace the polich and wax/seal stages.

Looks great as usual. I am just waiting for the smaller size to come out. Hopefully soon. Justin when do you spray the foam in the wells? I did mine this weekend when I was dressing the tires and I saw stuff floating out from the wells and was scared I was getting overspray on the truck.

Yeah if it's windy, the foam can be a pain. I usually apply it to the wells when it's still wet since you can with the foam. I come back and hit the tires later. I've had to wipe down an entire vehicle because of windy conditions. Oh well. The results of the foam are well worth it!

Yeah, quart sizes will be a blessing. Still not a bad deal if you do alot of cars. I bet is will not be long though.

Well it's raining here today and I now have a day off. I'm going by today to take some beading pics of the Tahoe.

So the Opti-Poly Seal is kinda like AIO on steroids? So you could use it, then layer a sealant or nuba right over act? Sounds like a cool product.

Is there a curing time for the poly-seal if you wanted to follow it with a high end sealant or a carnauba? Any bonding issues that anyone could for see?
