I know it sounds crazy, but yes, I detailed a lawn mower. Well, not really detailed, just cleaned it up.

I pay a guy to mow my lawn and I have a teenage boy. I began to realize how incongruous these two facts are. I decided to buy a lawn mower and make, I mean, give the opportunity to, the teenager mow the lawn. My wife found a used electric (yes, we are from the left) mower on Craig’s List. I negotiated a decent price and picked it up. I tried it out and it works great, although I think the blade needs to be sharpened. The seller gave it to me in a very dirty state, yes I know it’s a used lawn mower, what did I expect!

I used the pressure washer (Kratcher) and some Simply Green diluted 10:1. I grabbed an old MF and used DP Cleanse-All Exterior Cleaner. I then used another old MF and Poorboy’s Trim Restorer. After all that, a light spray and wipe off with 303.

Still well worn but clean!

Great job, Reddwarf!! My father-in-law gave us his electric mower, 2 days ago. It's a Black & Decker, but it looks almost exactly like the one you have. You've given me ideas now! LOL. My wife said, "That's just nuts", when I said about doing what you did, and detail our mower! Mine looks like your "Befores", just add cobwebs to it. LOL
You made it look "Green" again. Nice gloss all around, and that black flap in the rear is just glowing! PB Trim Restorer hid those scuffs/scratches on the top pretty well.
Now just need to seal it with DG105! :D I'm just messin' with ya!

Alban61, hmm, I didn't think of using a sealer! Good idea!

Man what a detail, she looks better then new....wicked detail.

Thanks for sharing.

What a massive difference! I have a similar lawn mower, but it's the Black & Decker brand. It's electric and I also picked it up on Craigslist for right around $100.

Problem is, it doesn't have enough power to cut through the grass, which riles me up! I am thinking about selling it and buying one with a petrol powered engine, hopefully that'll make a difference.

But thanks for the great ideas on cleaning it up! I was afraid on using a pressure washer on it since it's obviously electric. Looks like I might be good to go!

I paid $75 for this one. Hopefully it will have enough power to cut the grass. I tried it out on a small area and it seemed to do fine. I do think I'm going to buy a new blade. I think it runs about $16 at Sears.

lol
not the detail one would expect - but yu sure cleaned it up nicely! looks much better- amazingly good!!
we have an electric black and decker. been running forever! lol - knock on wood - good luck with yours as well!

You made that mower look new... This remines me to do mine, been putting it off. I think last time I used AIO and liquid glass. May go with DG#101, #105 and top it with Souveran paste. Reddwarf, :applause: again nice turn around, I bet you can get 150 now!!! :D

Thanks everyone. I put a new blade on it today. I was having a heck of a time trying to remove the old blade. Then I remembered I bought an impact wrench at Harbor Freight for $10 and a set of sockets for $10. I hooked up the wrench and zip, zoom, the bolt was off!
