Detailed Detail + Vinyl Wrap: '05 Saab 9-2x Aero

Great job! One of the best write-ups I've seen so far.

:wow::wow::wow:

I wasn't sure about the vinyl when I saw the first panel but the finish product is amazing! Great write up as well, very interesting. Thanks for sharing :dblthumb2::dblthumb2:

Fantastic! I have to ask, how many man hours were spent on the vehicle?

Wow!

Normally I don't like the matte/vinyl wrap and blacked-out fad- but this looks great! Love the color, love the look, and the love the work you put into it!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Romans!
Matte/Satin wraps are most definitely not for everyone! But did you see what color I was stuck with?!?! LOL
I needed to wrap it for a write-off as well... Win Win for sure

Wow, this is the FINEST write up I have seen on here! Incredibly well done!

Also, congrats on the authorization of FINEST.

Thanks Smack! I appreciate the kind words... This write-up took a bit of time to put together ;)
I'm in love with FINEST. It's a great product!

Wow! Love the detail/build thread. My buddy has one of these and he loves it.

Thanks Jay! They're great cars when taken care of! Absolutely amazing in the snow, great gas mileage, cheap to fix etc etc etc the list goes on :)
This is technically my 5th Subaru since 2009. So you can say i'm a pretty hardcore fan!

Mother of God!! Excellent job on the write-up AND the detail/wrap!!! Major props!!! :props:

Thanks Zo6!
How's your wrap holding up? Did you end up using Permanon as your LSP? How'd it go and how do you like it? Pics & Feed back please!!!!!

I too am not a fan of the satin/vinyal wrap look, but the quality of the work here is fantastic, it looks like a factory paint job. The details on the rest of the car were amazing too. I'm liking the carbon fiber accents.

Well done!

Thank you Nate! Most everyone I run into can't believe it's a wrap! Many people think that wraps are 10-footers at best, but boy are they wrong... When done correctly (like my wraps) you can be 1 foot away and have a hard time telling! It's all about technique and skill. It's kind of like comparing production detail shops to the quality you'd find from someone here on the 'Geek'

*Not trying to brag. Just want people to think differently about wraps!*

Amazing build/detail. Love the color of the vinyl.

Thank you 10sec! Pictures do not do this thing justice at all. In person the color is really pretty. It almost changes color in different lighting with the metallic flake in it.

A Saabaru!! Great car! Amazing thread! You did an absolutely stellar job on the car! That wrap looks stunning. Nice choice in wheels as well.

Thank you Taco! They're basically Ray's Gramlights knockoffs. Couldn't afford or find a legitimate reason to spend the high dollar originals... These do the job!

Wow! Your Saabaru came out bad ass! Nice Job! :-)

Thanks Just!

awsome job on your new saabaru. speechless writeup. one question or comment i have is it is the first time i'm hearing somebody put opti-coat on rotors. i would think the rubbing of the pads and heat would strip that opti-coat off sooner or later.

Thank you Jae! I didn't apply OC to the faces of the disc where the pads would contact. That would just be a waste! As far as heat goes... I'm pretty sure OC is good till like 750+ degrees?? Correct me if i'm wrong! Besides, if it doesn't hold up, then this would be good for durability testing! So far, so good!

:dblthumb2: Excellent work, I've always liked those little saabarus

Thanks Yellow!

All I can say is WOW. I really liked the wrap job (typically not a fan of those), but the color combo and the attention to detail really make that car stand out. BTW, what is the longevity of a typical wrap?

Thank you Long!
It really depends on where you live in the Country... But here in the Southwest (Where we can TONS of Sun!) I'm warrantied for 3 years on Horizontal panels, and 5 years on Vertical panels. If you're in a region that gets much less Sun, they'll warranty it for 5 Horizontal and I believe 7-8 on Vertical panels.
*BUT* I have Finest on my vinyl and take care of it like the most anal person in the world... So I'm sure they're safe claims of durability would be far surpassed by my way of protection. However, Next year I plan to wrap it another color. I'm already getting bored of Lagoon Blue!

Awesome job, awesome wrap, awesome write up, and awesome car make for an awesome post.

Awesome compliment Trolley!

I'm sure the coating wasn't applied to the areas where the pad it's the rotor.

Great job on the car. Is the wrap something you do as a business?

Correct!
Yes, Vinyl wrapping is part of my business. I mostly 'detail' but to people who want to pay for a wrap done correctly, I offer that service as well!
Thanks Rycen!

Great job! One of the best write-ups I've seen so far.

Thank you Frank Shamrock! ;)

Thank you Bacon!

ohh mann! this is so nice! wanna do my EVO!? LOL! :p jk

Wrap your Evo! Wrap your Evo! lol
Thanks REX!

Great work! And who doesn't love a Saabaru?!

Thanks IAD!

Fantastic! I have to ask, how many man hours were spent on the vehicle?

Thanks Z! 40+ hours start to finish over the course of ~12 days... I definitely took my time on this one!

Amazing amazing job on the Saabaru.

Thank you Sir!

What vinyl did you use? and how much does it run?

Brand = Avery Dennison
Color = Lagoon Blue Matte Metallic
Price = for 5x75feet ~$630 Retail?

Of course I don't pay retail, and I always order WAY more than I need so I can re-wrap any areas incase of damage (Rock chips, Scrapes, door dings, etc etc)

Fantastic write-up!

Our one corgi is camera shy too...

Thank you Fire! Too funny!

Serious skills there! Amazing, that wrap job looks perfect!

Thank you Hemi!!

Thanks again to everyone for all the kind words! I appreciate your comments and make the time put into this write-up well worth it! I salute you!

Hey Beach, used Permanon and it sucked ballz! Horrible durability. Switched to GTechniq C2V3 spray coating and it's holding up great! Application is supposed to last up to 8 months.

That's a shame! I was really hoping permanon would work out well. Maybe it just has a harder time bonding to the vinyl than it does paint?!

Just throw a Coating on there man! I'm telling you... It couldn't bee easier to just apply something like CQ or OC and forget about it! All I use is SBSD every now and then after a quick and easy ONR wash and I'm set! I absolutely love having a wrapped car! No worrying about swirls and maintenance couldn't be easier!

Thank you good sir! :xyxthumbs:
