Detailer on a budget.. Need some help.

I agree that I need more pads. I was thinking of getting a few h/t pads as well. Would the wax pad be like a red or crimson pad (absolutely no cut?)

As for the APC. I just finished off some Purple Power and was wondering where I go from there. I'll probably go this route in order to save money for other items.

For wax pads you can use lake country black, blue, red, or gold. I've heard that blue and red are exactly the same, just different colours. I would get atleast 2 in different colours(one for sealant and one for wax, or when one is dirty you can use the other. I have blue and gold. The blue has been great. The gold is a big 6.5" ccs and very thick foam. I've only used it once and is different from the small thin blue one. Both are nice. You could also try the hydro wax pad. The hydro pads seem a bit more durable than the CCS/flat pads. Atleast with my initial impressions.

For APC I found a gallon under the sink. Safeway brand. Its been great, and I've used up almost all of it. I need to buy some more too. I just bought purple power to use as a degreaser(cheaper than simple green from walmart)

I would also recommend Optimum No Rinse. I read review after review and finnaly decided to buy a gallon. Its a great product. use it to wash your car, or add it to wash media with car wash, use as clay lube, interior wipe down, even to clean wheels with 1-2 weeks worth of brake dust. ONR has saved a lot of time and money from having to buy other products. I can do a car wash in 30mins with windows and wiping down wheels with ONR and one bucket, sponge and 5 towels.

Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine 128 oz. New Formula!

What other products are you looking to buy?]

Why do you want to buy po85rd? m205 with a white pad should leave a perfect finish. Atleast that has been my experience. If its not then try m205 with the black pad with a small arm speed in a 12"x12" section. If you are trying to get a better shine or a wetter looking from your red car try a glaze. Like meg 7 glaze or klearknote pink mouse glaze.

I actually laughed out loud!

Anyhow, the Daytona brush is leaps and bounds more durable than the EZ detail brush.

Mark,

I couldn't agree more!

I have both and there's almost no comparison between the two! I have both Daytona brushes and can't see how anyone would call them junk because they're not. The little EZ brush is OK but that's as far as I'd go.

Grill Brush.....that's funny!!

Thank you for the heads up on which pads will work. I'm planning on adding a few before I finish my order. As for the APC, I may just stick to Purple Power and use a heavier ratio if needed. Might as well since it's working just fine and it's easy to buy locally.

As for the ONR, I've heard nothing but great reviews. My thinking was that I already have DP Rinseless for the time being, so I'll try to spend the money elsewhere. Is the DP in a different category completely to where ONR would benefit now or something to just look into in the future.

As for the po85rd, I got the impression that it finished way better than m205. Maybe I would just be better off doing m105->m205->Poli-Coat/845->Souveran/845 (Depending on $$ earned). I will look into Meg 7 Glaze (and others on here) to see what I'm missing out on.

Looks like the one I have in the cart will stay there. Thank you for the opinions! It means a lot, especially coming the users of the very tool/product I'm looking into buying.

More piling on me. I see how you guys roll now :bat: hope you all feel better about yourselves :(

What you guys are also saying is that AG knowingly sales a product that will damage your wheels

Furthermore, theres a reason they sale Daytona Wheel Brushes by the case....your going to need them when the handle snaps ;)

2gHiBoost, everybody has an opinion but you are correct. The 85RD does leave a better finish than 205. That is fact.

Flash, you know everybody loves you! Just not your barbecue grill cleaner.

Meguiars is hard to beat when it comes to value. They are my first recommendation when it comes to best bang for the buck. The second is CroftgateUSA.

I started to make some changes and decided to take a look at pads. As mentioned before, I already have 3 orange, 2 white & 1 black 5.5 flat LC pads. It's $35 for 6 of those and it's 27 for 3 h/t low pro pads. By looking at what I already have, what would you suggest to complete startup. (I can always buy more later..but for now, I think 9-12 pads would be a good start)

You wouldn't listen to me earlier so I refuse to offer my opinion :joking:

For buying 9-12 pads it might be worth wilding to get smaller pads as well. 3.5"-4" pads. Its probably something to think about later down the line.

What do you use as a glass cleaner? I've been using IPA(rubbing alcohol 1:1 with distilled water) or an OTC window cleaner called spray away, if the window is treated with rain-X. I've read good reviews about megs window cleaner, 1 gallon makes 11 gallons of cleaner.

Meguiar’s Glass Cleaner Concentrate, 1 Gallon, dilutes to make an excellent auto glass cleaner. Meguiars Concentrated Car Glass Cleaner is great for

You may also like the DA carpet brush. I just bought the aqua brush and used it on 4 different interiors. It takes the elbow grease out of the toothbrush/stiff bristle brush, but requires a rag to take way the dirt/grim. Works on leather, cloth seats, carpets, door cards and such.

The Daytona Brush is junk. Get this one instead:

11 Inch Wire Wheel Brush

I agree. This brush is way better than the EZ or Daytona. The wire running through it is stiffer so you can apply a little more pressure on the really dirty areas and it'll fit pretty much anywhere the other two will.

That would explain why there is no protective plastic cap on the end covering the wire:laughing:

Doesn't need a cap as the wire is nicely rounded at the top so it can't scratch anything. Way better built than that POS EZ/Daytona.

skip the po85rd and get superfinish (po106fa). Same result more cut.

Here is what I already have:
2 Buckets w/ Grit Gards
2750 psi Pressure Washer & Foam Cannon
80 Gal. Air Compressor
Griot's 6" DA
5" BP
5.5 LC Flat Pads (3 Orange, 2 White & 1 Black)
64 oz. DP Xtreme Foam
64 oz. DP Wash N Gloss
32 oz. Pinnacle Souveran
32 oz. DP Poli-Coat
32 oz. Meg's 105
32 oz. Meg's 205
2 Bars DP Clay
Some Microfibers (Could maybe use a few more if on special)

.......

Here is what I'm ordering:

Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush
DP Interior Surface Protectant BOGO
Collinite 845
Optimum Tire Shine BOGO
Meguire's APC+
320z Meguire's APC+ Sprayer Bottle
Clean Wheel Lug Nut Brush
3.5" BP
4" LC H/T Pads (1 of each color)
5.5" LC H/T Pads (1 of each color)
Free Sample: WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant

I will also be picking up some microfibers locally. I've decided to hold off on the Mezerna simply because I have m205 and I'm trying to limit my spending for now. I do plan on getting the Aqua Soft Carpet Brush that was mentioned earlier. It looks like it would really speed things up for lifting grime off the mats and floor.

Thank you all so much for the replies. Didn't realize you could lose focus at work so often due to a wheel brush debate. I went back and forth quite a few times, but stuck to the one I picked in the very beginning..
