I've been cleaning my own cars for years now. Sometimes, I really let the interior of my truck and my camry get really bad. I have a full time job as an auto technician, and on weekends, my friends or people who've heard of my quality of work call me and want me to work on their car. But, when I start cleaning my cars out, I clean the ever-loving s&*t out of them.

I have always taken out the front seats to make sure i get EVERYTHING thats on the carpet. When me and my wife were first married, she saw me taking out the seats, and thought I was buying new ones. When i remove a dash to get to the evaporator coil, i take the seats out. Makes it easier to move around inside, and you can usually get 3 poeple inside to help with a heavy dash.

It also exposes the center console and any drinks that may have spilled and ran down the sides and onto the carpet. Which makes it easier to clean. Since i know how to remove trim pieces, i can really get in there and get all the crums and dirt out from between the cracks. And look at all the real-estate thats opened up. It's like a black canvas for a paint brush in the form of a hot-water Extractor.

I love doing interiors, because thats where i spend most of my time when i'm driving. I also like to ride with a fresh wash and waxed paint, but here in Houston, theres always SOMETHING on the road to ruin your 4 hour wash, seal, wax, glaze job before you get to the corner store for a beer.

So, having said that, how do you guys feel about doing interiors? Do you ever take the seats out to really clean up the carpet? do you enjoy them, or dispise them? Or am i the only one that likes doing them ?

I think i suffer from Howard Hughes Syndrome....

I'm starting to enjoy the insides more.
I know my customers like the inside work more.
I get more satisfaction out of doing the interiors
:xyxthumbs:
Like you said....there is always something to get the outside dirty the next day...rain...dust...snow

Love doing interiors because I can add a personal touch of clean & appearance like it is my own car. When you do care for your car and is not about just making $$$ you enjoy every aspect of detailing!!!:buffing:

Absolutely hate it. I won't do it unless it is a paint correction combo.

Detailing interiors I really like doing because it is just as rewarding like a paint correction but more so its also amazing to restore a very dirty interior back to like new condition plus this where you will spend most of your time and you wants to feel comfortable, relaxed, and at ease knowing that your paint is as clean as your interior...just my eight cent

Rather do corrections, especially when theirs dog hair, or coffee stains all over

If it's one of Mark's (VP) interiors I hate it, if it's one of Scott's (naples,fl) interiors I love it

I enjoy them in moderation and there is a lot of money to be made with neglected interiors. People will only ride around in their own filth for so long, then they get overwhelmed that they've let it go for so long and they don't mind paying to have it thoroughly cleaned, steamed and extracted.

There is no need to take the seats out in my opinion. If the interior isn't trashed, there is no need. I move the seats back and forth and have different vacuum nozzles to get in the crack and crevices. As for the runs between the seats I've never had issues with minor runs, just spray let it sit and use different long brushes to scrub and a microfiber towel to wipe. For me it's not worth taking seats in and out for a basic detail, just me.

Used to hate interior work......then became accustomed to it and began to like it......now....I'm a hater again.

But you gotta do what pays.

I should have clarified that I don't take the seats out every time I clean my car...usually once or twice a year .

When I clean a friends car, if its nasty under the drives seat....it's coming out.

I've always felt a person that does good interior work is worth ten guys that just know how to .make paint look pretty. The person lives a good part of their lives in the car as well as their friends and family.

I like it. It pays good. Dramatic differences to the customer also. Most can't tell the difference in how you got the paint so shiny.

I dislike cars with 2 or 3 sets of floormats. What's the deal with that!

Depends on the weekend and the mood I am in. If I have a lot of thinking to do and want to feel accomplished..... bring me a disgusting interior! Otherwise I would prefer a polishing job over interiors

I don't care to detail the interior so what I do it spend a lot of time detailing it very well, that way it's just a simple wipe down from there.
While I'm at it I add good protection that last for a long time, I much prefer detailing the exterior.
Sort of like painting, I don't mine painting the outside of a house but do lock me in a bathroom with a paint brush, I'll scream. Lol
