This thread/post may seem to make no sense at all to some and may be painfully obvious to others. There was a time in my life when I wouldn't have understood it but I do now. I am going to share something that has helped me to understand that the decisions that I make today and the actions that I do or do not take today will effect my future.
A lot of folks have told me that if I place one foot in yesterday and one foot in tomorrow that I will be completely stepping over and missing out on the opportunities that would have been possible to secure "today". I agree with this wholeheartedly because "today" is all we have.
Concerning being an aspiring business man in the detailing world or any other setting for that matter, in making decisions today I have to always think "How will this effect the future"?
Here is a short clip from a movie that I saw when I was in my twenties. The content of this clip is something that I have pondered on, literally thousands of times when making decisions in my life.

Today, the questions that I am asking myself are..."how much do I charge for this job when it's completed? "If I charge too much, how will it effect my dealings with this particular customer"? "If I don't charge enough, how will if effect my word of mouth"?
These are questions that only I can answer so I am not looking for replies concerning these particular questions. I just got to thinking about the movie clip and how it has helped me to live in the solution instead of living in the problem. It is a very positive message that I can use in "all" of my affairs so I thought I would share it so that it may be used in the context of how to make money detailing cars.
One of the things that I do on a regular basis is to ask a more experienced business man what he would do. This is one of the great things about these discussion forums, there is always someone who has more experience than me to bounce such things off of before taking action.
Paying consequences today because of a decision that I made years ago is just something that happens in life and it is never fun, but this situation can be limited or reduced by "playing the tape through", seeing into the future so to speak.
Hopefully some of you will add to this thread some of the Helpful analogies, Acronyms, metaphors or stories that you have lived by in the light of being positive.
I'll start it off by repeating what a client/friend of mine tells me. He says..."Dave, you need staying power". "If they see that you have been around for a few years and still have the same phone number, they will think about those who are not around anymore and figure you must be doing something right".
My intention was to make this a positive thread so please...If all that you have to contribute to it is negativity...please click the "home" button now.
