Did a little playing after work with WG & DP tire gels

Yea, I was leaning towards the WG. It looks like the DP if fading like loudog said.

...I think I'm the only one that likes the bare side in the pic.

I like the look of clean natural rubber.

The WG looks better imo. I just ordered DP off of BOGO and I hope DP looks like WG after to coats.

Nice side by side shots. It sure show the differences and not relying on the product names.

:xyxthumbs:Lookin good. Just bought the Black Diamond Gel to try it out. Was told by my friend that it did the job. Tired of just using so so conditioners. Have a silver car I will try it on. Lou

This is very interesting. At first, I really liked the top left side of the tire (DP). It looks clean and has a bit of shine, but is muted and a little matte. The WG looks soaking wet and way minty.

After 12 hours, I'm not so sure that my opinion is the same. The DP still looks good, but I think it faded too much and looks dull. The WG side has dulled down a little, but still has that almost wet shine to it. I think I like that side better after 24 hours.

I'm very interested to see how they hold up.

As a side note, I'd be interested to see the same test on a car with chrome wheels and more low profile... purely for selfish reasons. I have a truck with 265/70/16's on alum rims and a car with 235/55/17s on chrome.

On the truck, I could see a more muted matte finish fitting nice with the clean alum wheels (similar to those above). On the car (silver with flake), I could see the very wet look brining out the bling of the chrome and the sparkle of the fleck.

I don't think you will be disappointed in the Black Diamond Gel, I know I'm not and will continue to use both products.

I've got the 24 hour pictures(actually more like 23 but hey I had other things pop up tonight) I'll probably not get around to posting them until the morning however.

I'm also curious to how they hold up and that was partly why I'm doing this little experiment. (A) for look and (b) for durablity.

What the heck, the night is still young.

Ok so this is the 24 hour photo taken 23 hours post application (had to do something this evening that prevented me from doing it at the 24 hour mark.)

Not looking to bad, I almost want to say they still look about the way they did this morning.

When I got home this evening I did a sweep of the finger. I got a VERY VERY slight hint of product on the finger from the DP side and a noticeable amount (compared to the DP side) of product from the WG side. Not enough to worry about any slinging off but enough to know it was there.

So now it's hurry up and wait for the 7 day photo.

Funny how people's opinion's can differ so greatly... The WG side just makes me nauseous. Without the DP side to "pallet-cleanse" my eye's, I may have gotten sick. [/sarcasm]

The DP is so clean and even looking, but it has a little more gloss than Opti-bond, as seen in my tire gel comparison thread DP Gloss, Opti-Bond, PB WS review. Opti and DP FTW! :xyxthumbs:

Your test/comparison was one of the reason's I'm doing this one actually. Thought it might be useful to see how the DP product looks when compared to the other stuff on the market.

are you driving during the test, or is it just setting in the sun?

I think he's driving it. The first two pictures, he is parked on gravel and the last one he is parked on the driveway.

The DP looks better and more glossy in the third picture than it does in the 2nd. Now I am starting to like that one lol.

Being driven. 20 miles each way to/from work

Actually just to clarify the pictures, gravel is actually the home drive way and the concrete is from the parking deck I park in.

Photographing black items against all the colored items makes for an exposure nightmare.

I should note that other then cropping & resizing them, NO post production alterations have been made to the images.

Also should anybody want the full size pictures and others that I have taken from slightly different angles I'd be more then happy to email them to you.

Did a little PS...

If it's too big or small let me know...I don't know the limit on size without it shrinking and I went through 5 different sizes..annoying

The sun angle is different so it reflects slightly different. In the first two shots, the light is coming in from the left and and from the right on the last one so there is a reflection.

The natural one looks nice too.

I was just going to say the same thing. You can see the sun shining on the WG in the first 2 pictures. It shows the DP fading more. The third picture has the sun shining mostly on the DP. Which makes it look a little better than before.

Evev though the sun is not on the WG the third picture, it is still holding up better than the DP. You can see the DP fading in the second picture after 12 hours. The WG doesn't seem the be fading, even after 24 hours. So if you park in the shade, the WG would look better. LOL
