Disappointing products

Meguiars NXT 2.0 - Way too finicky of a product. I dont care what anyone says, that stuff streaks so badly on black paint even when a micro thin layer is applied and 45 minutes left to dry. I much prefer Meguiars M20 Polymer Sealant.

I also find it funny that Forrest from Mothers PM'd me about my Showtime Detailer complaint.

Sorry, its just not a good product!

I didn't have a problem with it other than the heavy scent and the fact I'd QD a car and it attracted bugs. I could literally QD a small 12"x12" area and ONLY that part of my car would be swarming with gnats just 30 minutes later. Weird stuff.

I tried Mequiar's Gold Class and NXT car wash and wasn't impressed by either. They were just mediocre at best...I expected better.

As much I think Griot's products are superior I was disappointed by their aluminum polish...in fact, I don't think they make it anymore. I like Mequiar's Mag Wheel Polish better.

I think it is good business for Forrest to contact users that were not satisfied.

I could not agree more! Got them on BOGO. On both of them, the inside lining came apart while using them for the first time. Under the lining, it has foam which also fell apart and got stuck all over my microfiber towels I was washing it with. Never again!

My blue mf mitts have lasted awhile but did start to stretch at the seam with the elastic band. I actually removed the entire band and they work great for me without fear of dragging that band on the paint. I will say I LOVE the carrand mitt. On that one I actually cut the liner out of it though. My opinion the Carrand Mitt is higher quality but I haven't had any problems with my blue mitts.

Strongly disagree on this one. I am almost positive your application technique is the culprit. This product is morphing into my favorite sealant. It has 4Star UPP looks at a fraction of the time. You need to follow the instructions on the Ultima site to the T. And in this case, the "T" stands for THIN THIN THIN. When you think you've gone thin enough, go thinner yet, and when you're that thin, go even thinner. The east of use, plus slickness, plus gloss is amazing. Pretty durable too.

You got it :dblthumb2: As you know I love UPGP as well

FWIW, WG Autobathe did feel a lot less slick that other washes with suds. Hopefully someone else can chime in with their experience with it. It did smell good though...

I've only used it once (2 cars) just last weekend but I didn't have any issues. I didn't test it for lubricity. If it lacks in that aspect then I would change my opinion of it. I rather like the fact it doesn't have excess suds. The suds that were there seemed to stay there. I don't like it when I add the soap and go to top off the bucket and the suds explode out of the top before I can even get more then a drop of water in there.
I usually take out my grit guard, add the soap to the almost full bucket and stir it with my arm. Then top off the bucket with water.

I agree. Would you prefer a company ignores you when you have an issue?

I used WG soap last night again as part of my rotation (use many brands).

My observations - used at 1.25 to 3 gallons (yes I measure), light bubble gum scent, creates light airy suds on demand, lubricity seems ok, cleaning good, rinses very very easily. It spreads on paint very well. It is not a thick gelish soap like some. I do not think you can equate that aspect to lubricity...ONR does not feel especially slick but it is.

I have soft water (water softener) so that may be a variable in different experiences.

Meg's Endurance tire gel. I found it very difficult to get it into the little cracks and crevices of the tire's surface.

I too noticed the streaks on my metallic blue paint!(even after I had left it to cure for 24 hrs)

but a QD after curing usually takes the streaks off!

I'll be getting Megs#21 soon! will try it out!

Perhaps you are right. Maybe it is a "perception" that suds are needed to have a well-lubricated wash. I too use ONR every so often, so I am used to no suds also. But I think it's because when I am doing an actual hose/bucket wash, I am expecting the suds... I dunno, might be a mental thing. Maybe I'll try my 2 year old WG Autobathe on the wife's car while it's not "too" dirty to avoid any potential marring. Last time I used, I do recall it being not as slick... dunno.

If you buy a gallon of that stuff, you won't need glass cleaner again for the rest of your life. Seriously, 11 gallons of glass cleaner out of 1 gallon of concentrate? Your grandkids will be using this stuff.

That being said, I love Sprayway glass cleaner as well. Happened to spot it at Wally World by the cleaning stuff for $2.38 a can, so it's nice that I can get it locally if I need to. :xyxthumbs:

You're the first one I've seen that uses Sprayway. I tried it, invisible glass, and the similar Simonize branded one that the car washes all use and the Sprayway was by far the best. It just never streaks, unless the glass is really dirty, and then it only needs one more shot to come out great. But on light dirt it's the fastest, easiest I've tried. And it's in stores!

OK, the bad...

Those green fluffy Cobras are a lint-bomb nightmare. Cobra's in general have been linty, some right away and some after just a year of home use.

Klasse AIO I don't think lasts very long but I love it for cleaning/prepping paint for SG or other sealants.

That's it I think, but I'm still a noob and havent tried that many things. I'm sure I'll have lots more complaint's as time goes on though. ;)

No prob at all with my blue mitts. Have had them over a year. I like the Stoners IG. I've been using it for several years. Doesn't mean I won't try some of the others mentioned. This has been a great thread for me as I haven't tried a lot of different products. Lots of good info.

Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax
I bought this thinking I could replace Optimum Car Wash with an OTC product available at Wally World. I was quite wrong.

Yesterday morning I set out to wash our vehicles. First up was my wife's Edge sporting a 2 week old coating of DP Poli-Coat. Now in my (admittedly) limited experience with Poli-Coat I find that it sheets water quite well, almost eliminating the need to flush the surface to cut down on drying time. After using UW&W water seemed to stick to the paint. No beading, no sheeting, just parked on the surface. Naturally I removed my nozzle to try that technique which helped a little but not all that much.

I wasn't sure if UW&W had somehow stripped Poli-Coat or the "dispersed wax" simply sucked. Either way I wasn't willing to chance it. Re-washed the cartruck with CG CW&C at paint prep ratio, gave it an IPA wipedown after drying, and re-applied Poli-Coat.

UW&W isn't welcome on my shelves.

I was very seriously underwhelmed with Pinnacle Signature Series II. It was easy as hell to apply and remove but it didn't make any difference in the appearance of the paint. It didn't look like I'd put anything on it.
It does smell nice though...

cobra blue micro-chenille wash mitt. Got one,it fell apart at the seems. AG quickly replaced and the same with that one. I bought the Carrand wash mitt and that has held up better.

Same problem here... I got them while on BOGO and they both fell apart after the first use. The one I got from walmart for $4.99 at the beginning of spring is still going strong.

PB quick detailer plus was another product that was disappointing. I sprayed it on like any other QD and had one heck of a time wiping it off. IMO its more of a spray wax then a QD. You have to use so little of the product to keep from having a mess that I feel it wont work well as a QD.

Maybe I need to work on my application, but I'm not fond of Meg's Ultimate Protectant. It never goes on evenly, even after going back for a second application. It just looks bad when there is a core of deep rich black on a pillar but the the more you go out from the core, the less black it is.

I dont have that problem. I use it on running boards. I suspect that not all protectants work well on all plastics.

I've tried it, with foam applicators, on 3 cars, and 2 of them gave me problems. Not a good success rating.
