Disappointing products

PB quick detailer plus was another product that was disappointing. I sprayed it on like any other QD and had one heck of a time wiping it off. IMO its more of a spray wax then a QD. You have to use so little of the product to keep from having a mess that I feel it wont work well as a QD.

I agree with you. But I disagree with you too. ;)

I completely agree that this shouldn't even be considered a QD. It has carnauba in it, and it obviously leaves protection behind (based on how super slick it leaves the paint). A little goes a very long way, otherwise it will streak.

So, I am very happy with it, but I consider it more of a spray wax than a QD, just like you.

Those sample spray bottles that you are using make it easy to spray a small amount. :props:

That's true and made all the difference in the world on how it works. I never tried the PB in those bottles until after my post.

ONR new formula-- Doesn't seem to have lubricity to prevent swirls at the recommended dosage. Maybe I need to use more?

I think the ONR (New Formula) works very well.I have noticed NO new induced swirls OR scratches using this product.
Thou the recommended dosage is 1oz/2 gallons,I put 3oz in a almost filled 5 gallon bucket (With 2 GritGuards).

Hmm, maybe I need to increase the amount then, I got swirls from the new formula. I have tried several and my black paint gets swirls with all of them. Of course I walk by it and it swirls, drives me nuts. What do you guys think is the worst for black?

I would ask best but since this is a diss a product thread I had to word it that way. haha

Clay Magic Clay:
- overpriced at local PBE store
- feels like stiff play-doh
- does not remove contaminants well
- sticks to EVERYTHING - doesn't glide on paint well
- mars soft paint easily

Mother's Back to Black:
Maybe I expect too much of this stuff, but it just doesn't work for me. Horribly whitened plastic gets only slightly darker after application then goes back to previous condition within a couple of days - like it is just 'wetting' the plastic.

ANY sprayer/bottle combo. from Home Depot

LGM - broke in 2 weeks

PC DA (1st version) with Edge Pad Kit
- pads too big and thick for this machine
- extremely difficult to maintain pad rotation
- polish can get into pad adapter 'cooking' it <-- Actual term used by Dedication to Detail Support (great support, btw)
- pads are OK, just a bad combo with this underpowered machine

I know there's more, but I can't think of them right now. . .

Diss a product thread? You mean like, dis a product that stinks, but dat product is much better? :p

I recently picked up some "Forever Black" Tire Gel on BOGO.This stuff is a lil' messy. When applying the product,I had a few drop's of black pigment that I had to wash/SCRUB off my driveway. Then a week later, the black bled off the tires when just washing with a ph balenced car shampoo?
I have a extra un-opened box if anyone wants to try it?
I will be picking up some DP Gloss Tire Gel (from some AGO member's recommendation and reviews).

There is a very high possibility that the swirls you discovered have been there the whole time. Meaning, you didn't really remove them the first go around... and were just hiding from the polish oils and/or some minor paint swelling. Did you do an IPA wipedown to verify 100% that the swirls were removed?

Reason why I mentioned that is because this happened to me too. Once I tried to improve my technique (not perfect yet because I feel there is always room for improvement), and verified that swirls were indeed gone, there are no new swirls induced from ONR washing. Whenever you do touch paint though, there's always a chance of light scratches and swirling...either from debris on the paint, caught on mitt, etc... it shouldn't be significant enough to see after 1 or 2 ONR washes. But yes at times, swirls are inevitable. That's why we do a light-polish 1x a year though!!! with a gray pad and PO85RD.

Anyways, my 2 cents. I love ONR. Works very well for me with the 2 bucket method, girt guard in both.

The Porter Cable kits - they are pre-configured with 6.5" pads...which clearly is not the preferred size of pad for the PC. I don't understand how this continues...doesn't AG want the buyer to have the BEST combination of machine/pads?

Why must a buyer have to special order the 5.5" pads...after they have already spent money on a kit that only includes the 6.5" pads? I have shelved my 6.5" pads, and had to make another order for the 5.5" pads.

When are the PC kits going to include 5.5" pads? (let people special order the 6.5" pads)...this almost seems like a rip off...

You may want to be looking into what you are wiping the paint off with and not the ONR ;)

My blue waffle weave wrecked my paint after onr... But my white one did not. Hmm.
I would not use a waffle weave of any kind to wash with ONR, you need something with a nap otherwise you will likely be dragging dirt across the surface.

Hey Dwayne Holmes,

I have tried so many microfibers. Some are better than others. I am actually to the point that I don't even want to wash it anymore, ONR or regular because it always looks like I need to polish after each one. haha.... OK exaggerating a little. So I drive the other cars more instead LOL

The only time I get satisfied with the result after a wash is using the leaf blower and just blowing it dry, no touching it, then it looks good.

I did try more ONR today and it did help. Could be my technique with this type of wash, I will keep at it, but fairly happy with the results today.

Cobra MF Multi purpose towels, bought the 3 pack, man was I disappointed, the Costco towels blow these away and everyone says to stay away from them, then you should run for the hills with these!! Bought a 12 pack of the PB dmt, waiting for them to arrive.
