This Tahoe was a challenge to say the least. We had 4 guys on this truck for over 3 days. 50+ man hours total went into this beastly rig. Special thanks to Dennis Ware who is on the AG Forum for helping me out, otherwise I'd still be in the shop spinning the wheel.

As you can see, the water etching and swirling was pretty bad.

There were a ton of small rock chips and road rash all throughout the hood, front and rear fenders. Heck I lost count at 100

Our man James was on the tint...5% throughout

Menzerna 300 to the rescue....My days of wet sanding scratches are OVER, thank god. It would slow me down tremendously. Even though I didn't remove it, I would say its 80% better. I could of pushed more, but at what cost? It was no longer an eye sore

Prepped with Pinnacle Clay, Optimum Ferrex and Gauge Readings

Test spot came out so good, I just kept going. 5.5 hours just compounding the hood using a Boss 21 with microfiber pad and Pinnacle Advanced Compound.

Here's a video

Tail lights and Headlights were restored to near new

The customer opted for our wheels off service. Over 5 hours on these wheels making them new. Wheels were coated with Opti-Pro Plus

All trim was restored and customer was charged per linear foot using Opti-Trim Restore

This bleach stain was dyed OEM color to restore the mat to near new condition.

As you can see, we went through quite a few pads correcting this paint

Interior came out great

For the final step, the customer chose Opti-Coat Pro Plus

Final results:

great job. Really like your write ups.
You covered every square inch of this vehicle!

May I ask what tool and pad was used to remove the deep scratch?

Wow, impressive! Nearly 6 hours compounding the hood? I think I'd go crazy. Keep up the good work.

Used Griots Boss, with a griots non-foam lined microfiber cutting disc with Menzerna 300. Stuff cuts through anything.

And I questioned my mental sanity and original estimate many times while compounding that hood. If I never see a Tahoe again, I'll be a very happy man!

Nice job! It looks amazing now, and nice match up on the floor mat dye. That's one thing I could never do when I was detailing at a shop 8 years ago.

Wow! Looks like it got attacked by sand paper! That thing was really beat! Superb work...and kudos to you and your crew for the hours put into that beast!

Did you ever consider wetsanding with 3k by machine to speed up the polishing process ? Sounds like you went nuts.

The rock chips you touched up tho impressed the crap out of me.

I never did that stuff before and you did an amazing job.

Did you wetsand after you touched it up, or just buffed or none.

Amazing job

I never considered wet sanding with 3k as I've never done that before. It's always been a stage approach for me. But I'm open to learning more if it makes results better.

In this instance before using colorchip system I hit the car with compound, literally 50 or so passes. Then I used the squeege system in their road rash kit to fill all the spots. Then I hit it again with Menzerna 300 to level it , Pinnacle Advanced Compound to match the rest of the vehicle, pinnacle advanced finishing polish, the Optimum Polish to prep for coating. By the time I'm at the last stage the chips are blended into the paint whereas they are unnoticeable to the camera and barely visible to the eye.

Now bigger chips will be seen a little more as there's just no way to get 100% rid of those. Or at least I haven't figured out a way to yet.

I would recommend you getting a practice hood with a PC and a interface meguiars 3k trizact , its not aggressive and on harder jobs it accelerates the process. And IMO actually safer cause you don't have to introduce heat to cut out the bad defects.

You sand them out and just worry about getting the sanding haze gone witch is a breeze swirls are actually harder.

You did an amazing Job on the truck, you knocked that touch up out of the park.

I just made a thread of this bad trunk I wetsanded , I probably could of buffed it it would of just taken forever

Wetsanding SEVERE OXIDATION - Auto Geek Online Auto Detailing Forum

That's awesome...I will try it for sure. I have a dedicated PC for sanding. A junkyard project for sure when I get some time.

Dennis who was with me will tell you, I'm always monitoring for heat, just to make sure, but after a while you kind of know how far you can push before you make a boo boo. With today's clear coats and PTG you have to work really hard to make a mistake. But I'm all for something that speeds up the process. Thanks for the advice.

Outstanding work Scott! always enjoy your write ups.

That looks fantastic! One question, what did you use to clean the cloth seats? I have the same ones in my Silverado.

That tahoe was challenging but in the end result its look amazing
l want to thank Scott for giving me the opportunity to help out on this project,Can't wait for the next one
