I ordered a 2012 Challenger the end of last year. I have been tracking it online and it is scheduled for delivery within two weeks. I called my sales person and requested very

politely not to let anyone wash the car. "I do my own by hand......" etc.. She says OK. Then calls me back and says "it should be ok because we hand wash our cars with a

brush". I know there are some really nice boars hair brushes.... Don't want to leave it to chance. I told I would still pass . Never would have crossed my mind prior to finding this

forum. I hope she obliges.

Only time will tell the tale....Good Luck with it! :props:

When I take delivery of a car, I ask politely,,,,, please don't wash it, don't remove the plastic, just give it to me as is. I hope they respect your wishes

Get in touch with the sales manager asap and make sure he knows that you dont want your car washed... Leave nothing to chance.

This is what I did, I then followed up my conversation with an email to said manager to ensure I had documentation

I had them write it out on the original sales order. They obliged. I would do as Deep Gloss says.

I agree, you are the customer...

If they don't deliver it properly, walk away money in hand, and demand a new one.

Tonight my girlfriend is picking up her new car. I told them not to even touch the exterior or remove plastic. It came off the truck like 4 days ago and only has 1 mile! The salesman said that's the first time he has ever heard of such a thing, but that his detailer would love me because he gets paid whether or not he details a car. let's hope it all works out!

I understand why you wouldn'twant the dealer to wash it,but realistically you know once you get that new toy home it's probably going to get a complete detail.Any defects that the dealer wash puts on it will be gone once you finish. If they do wash it just use it a bargaining chip against them to get a better price.

I didn't stress when I bought our Pilot last year,it came from a nearby dealership and who knows how many times it had been washed already. It was nothing a little Meg Ultimate polish toped w ultimate paste wax couldn't handle.Congradulations on your new car.

I do not agree.... Why allow/creat a situation in which you will have to remove clear coat?

It doesn't grow back...lol

Did you see the recent thread where the guys dad bought a new black Mustang? They trashed it. Yes we do have the ability to fix most of the defects, but, why start removing the clear the day you get it?

I prefer to stretch out the 1st paint correction as long as possible. So the less a dealer touches it the better for me!!!!

Be wary when you detail that sucker, ive done a few and they have very hard paint. Let me know if you have any orangle peel around the rear bumper, the ones ive done have it severly. im curious if the 2012's have it.

Tell her if they wash the car the deals off. Why would she even call you back after you told her not to wash the car?!?!?! Tell her to smack herself!

when we bought my wife's car recently it was around the time the dealership closes and the salesman was very apologetic in telling me their detail department was closed and they like to detail all the cars before they go. I couldn't have been happier.

Well our first conversation I told her not to wash it because I hand wash. So she probably

checked into it and when she found out they to wash by hand she called me back.

Below is an example of some "detailing" before some dealerships receives their Challenger shipments...

Also:
First: Hope yours gets to leave the assembly plant, as scheduled, as ordered!!
Second: Hope no "factory options" are 'assembled' on your vehicle at Brampton's port-of-call. Nor, cleaned-up/detailed there either.
Third: Hope your dealership hears your plea: Do Not touch!!
Fourth: Enjoy your new ride!!!

:)

Have you paid for it yet? I would refuse delivery if wash or remove plastic. Seriously.

You know? That sounds good! How fun would that be to unwrap that thing and detail it?
I'm doing it!
