dont you just hate it.....

I let most of the rice racers play by them selves when i had my Stang, but i did like a nice even fight with some european muscle

The funny part about that is, they are so slow. Even tuned ones are slow compared to any normal "fast" car be it Mustang, Camaro or even my wifes Trailblazer SS.

Not a Honda, but here's an SRT-4 Neon that I polished a couple months back:

This car is still street legal too. One thing you guys are forgetting, the properly built and tuned sport compact cars are producing amazing numbers on half the engine. Sure Mustangs, Camaros, Vipers, etc. are capable of turning out large numbers on the dyno, not taking away from that. Be a true car enthusiast, give credit where credit is due. There are hack tuners just like there are hack detailers and they are a dime a dozen, but this shouldn't take away from those who are doing it properly.

Back to the OP, yes I hate when I get that. It's so bad that anytime one drives by my house and my SRT is sitting in the driveway, they feel the need to rev up like I'm going to get in my car and chase them down.

Wow nice times, I think this may be the exception that proves the rule.

You shoulda whooped him. You were in a Mustang...no excuse for letting him go, haha.

I dont know Kris i just feel it would of been a waste of gas. theres no actual challenge to it! now if it would of been an actual "Sports Car" then it would of been another story... :xyxthumbs:

Ahhh, the good old days. Granted American Muscle has improved as of lately, the reason this kids with dumb sounding mufflers think they can take take a 2012 Mustang with 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs with their rice burner is because a decade ago it wasn't a problem :P.

'95 Mustang GTS - 215 hp at 4200 rpm and 285 ft-lbs at 3400 rpm from a 5.0L and 3300 lbs.
'95 Prelude Vtec - 190 hp at 6800 RPM and 158 ft-lb at 5500 rpm from a 2.2L and 2900 lbs.

In my experience the Prelude won that match. Mustang suspension provided minimal traction off the line compared to the prelude's front engine fwd and the 5.0L was generally over revving trying to keep up with the RPM that vtecs were capable of.

I love the American muscle of the 50's, 60's and early 70's but what came after that was sad in terms of performance and reliability.

its like Garry Dean once said, "its a honda and not a ferrari and never will be one":laughing::laughing:

You can also take out Honda and fill that in with "Ford, Chevy, Kia, BMW etc..":dblthumb2:

The ratio on american muscle cars beating ricers is HUGE...and you know it.

I don't know if that's true or not, do you have any data showing that a true statement or is it what you just heard on a forum?

Here is my argument...a lot of the Honda's that you guys are referring to are young kids who don't have the money to do it right. They're cheap and easy a hell to "hook-up". But there are some really nice and FAST Honda's out there that are built right, and their making the 9sec 1/4 mile time with only four cylinders.

I love cars on here as much as everyone else does and i dont care if it made over sea's or here in the free world... if it's fast it's fast and if it's nice it's nice.

The best is watching them huffing and puffing their way up any kind of mountain. There's no replacement for solid torque.

When your minding your own business on the road and some honda guy pulls up next to you and starts reving his car at you? I mean all i was driving was my brothers 08 mustang that has exhaust. i turn and look at him and hes making hand gestures that he wants to race.... So annoying having to hear that lawn mower sound....:bash:.... i just kept going and he sped off like if he drove a "sport car"
ohhohoho I always get that when i am in my Louda#% camaro lol

You are failing to understand my point. Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes, Challengers, BMW M3, M6, Skyline, etc. ARE sports car. They were manufactured as SPORTS CARS. Since when is a honda a sports car? Last time i checked they were very reliable cars to get to point a to point b. The videos you put up are Drag Cars that are not street legal. Let me show you what a STREET LEGAL SPORTS CAR can do and is.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx8FF1eW79Y]8 sec street car (twin turbo mustang) - YouTube (actually driving to the track and not in a trailer like most hondas arrive)

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL2su8eMEIc]First 8 Second C6Z06!!! PUMP GAS !!! - YouTube ( 8 sec street corvette on pump gas and not race gas like all hondas need to hit 9s.)

See my whole point of an actual sports car. Now if you want to talk about Drag cars that are just drag cars and only belong on the strip... you know v8s are the kings of the track! :xyxthumbs:

Me personally wouldnt say all mustangs are sports car maybe certain models are. But you are also failing to see my point in this debate... To take a four cylinder car from a factory 160 or so horse and be able to produce an outcome of 600++++whp is pretty impressive to me. And I have also see PLENTY of 500+whp that are street legal with pump gas and drive to the tracks as well. Let's not also forget that a V8 is pretty much double the size of a typical honda motor and triple the price tag as well. None the less I have seen great mustang and great honda's

But on the other hand don't take my arguments as being disrespectful, that is NOT my purpose at all.

I don't know what particular motor those civics are running in the videos but generally honda engines fall in the 91 cubic inches (1.5L) to a 146 cubic inches (2.4L) on some of the new models and such.

Some of the Corvettes and such are running as large as 7.0L from the factory.
A general Honda a sports car, no, but the same can be said about chevy and ford. But Honda has built and marketed sports cars such as the S2000 and NSX both of which were quick cars and use a 2.2L and 3.2L engine respectively.

Why even bring up motor sizes? IT makes no sense. Why do you like hondas and then say, "well its unfair because you have 7.0 or a 6.3 and i have a 1.3" Is it our fault you like puny motors and we dont?

1.3" what though?

Maybe a 3.7L is big enough for me and I don't need a 6.3L to compensate.

And I never said it was unfair, I think it is amazing how much some of these car companies (jap and german) can do with small liter motors when compared to their american counter parts. I only tossed the sizes in for good measure because in some cases you are closer to 4x the size than double.

I just don't think real highly of claiming a Honda isn't a sports car would you pull a specific model from Chevy, Ford, BMW... and claim they are sports cars.

ill will tell you this. Put a stock honda civic and a new v6 base model camaro side to side and you tell me whats the sport car. Hell ask anyone and they will immediately tell you the v6 camaro is more of a sports car. Put a Honda accord next to ANY bmw and the BMW has more characteristics of a sports car than the honda. Now im not saying some Ford or Chevy mini van is a sports car because that would just be pathetic to say. But tell me this, Grab a stock honda. 100% stock. How much can that motor handle before you even open up the motor or do a motor swap?

Put the Camaro up against a Lamborghini and which one is the sports car?
We are comparing different classes. But to say that just because it's a honda it shouldn't get any respect is... I guess a personal taste or opinion. But for me as a car fan I won't ever not respect a car because of it's make or reputation. If anything I would probrobly have more respect for the car and owner for being able to push the boundaries of what the engineers had originally design.
It's easy for anyone to go to a dealer and just buy a FAST car... but it takes skills to build one.

"it's built, not bought"

i always get this when im on the motorcycle. annoying. either u teach them a lesson or u dont play. for me it depends on what mood i am in

I usually get that on the bike too. I kindly explain that my 1st gear will be at 100 mph and I don't have time to explain power to weight ratio. I told one guy to meet me at Laguna Seca he quickly declined. Funny kids!

You say, "If anything I would probrobly have more respect for the car and owner for being able to push the boundaries of what the engineers had originally design". So putting a fart cannon and lowering the car is "pushing the boundaries"? Reving it and wanting to race a car that can easily pull bus lengths on you is "pushing the boundaries"? Really? How many guys out there actually take the time to build a honda right? like 20% compared to 80% who are the ones with the fart cannons and huge wings, nos stickers, type-r badges, bondo patches all over the car, "i love my honda" stickers. Read my very first post and see why its so annoying.

"some honda"

There are mustang owners who rice out their cars as well, It not just honda's. So would it have been just as annoying if that honda would have been a stang?

I will tell you this, It would have been more of a challenge to race some riced out stang, or camaro rather than a honda with a fart pipe.
