Driver Learns the Hard Way

He got what he deserved. As a former firefighter you save time where you can. The pump is probably 1500 GPM or larger and holds less than 1000 gallons. You do the math. So if they ran out of water, they should have taken the time to crawl under the car and not damage the car. I don't think so. Manpower at a fire is low anyways. First to cut is always the fire department. They run with 3 men usually. One has to run the pump the other is an officer.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm with you bulldog. My brother is a firefighter in Mass and sent me that photo this morning. The real reason he sent it is because i am also a BMW owner.

Again, i have bulldog's perspective on this. When the engine pulls up to a working fire they tie into the hydrant asap and time is incredibally important. The need to charge up a hand line or two and don't f around. So the a hole's insurance has to replace a couple of windows.

I am just sorry to see it's a BMW. The old joke about the difference in a porcupine and a BMW is that with the BMW, the p***k is on the INSIDE is the general sentiment of most for us BMW owners. We aren't all that bad and I am single handedly trying to reverse the reputation BMW drivers have by being a courteous driver.

And its a coupe, not a sedan as mentioned in the article. And from the wheels, looks like a 328. Us 335 drivers are much more law abiding!

Sure the person should not have parked there. Perhaps they are not the type of person that does this normally but had a bad day and did not realize. Wishing the worst on their vehicle for a mistake is simply ridiculous.

I don't wish the worst on it, just think there are consequences to actions, and sometimes consequences are deserved. I would not see a car parked by a fire hydrant and think I sure hope that building catches on fire so the fire department destroys the car.

You should tell that to the VICTIMS of the fire and see how they feel.

They busted out the windows and connected, warranted damage to the car. But to make comments wishing the car filled up with water is simply odd. No one knows why the car was parked there, could have been a mistake, we all make them.

There are victims of that fire regardless of the car being there. That sounds harsh but it is reality.

You sound like you are the owner of this BMW... LOL JK

What should be less than a minute to connect to a hydrant and supply water was taking several minutes. The BMW was so close to the hydrant the FF and bystanders had to pick the car up and move it away from the curb.

2 Boston firefighters were killed in a fire a few weeks ago.

The BMW's owners sister was on the local news up there saying "he just parked there for a second to check on his friends who he thought were involved within the fire".

Ok...wait a minute...

This a hole blocks access to a hydrant KNOWING there's a working fire in progress? And i will give him the benefit of the doubt and say, in his haste and maybe excitement, he overlooked his mistake but he should learn a lesson that 2 windows cost or his deductible.

No, i do not wish his vehicle filled with water as a result but certainly hope he and hundreds of thousands of others who saw that story now see the consequences of being either that stupid or thinking they won't be in the way for "just a minute".

Another pet peeve of mine is when people park in front of commercial places (stores) in the fire lane to just "rush in and grab something". C'mon, take a second to park properly and walk your ass in and out.
