Duragloss Aqua Wax, I'm impressed

Hey Guys,

I don't mean to threadjack but, I just picked up some AW yesterday to use as my drying aid along with my Cobra Guzzlers. However, I remember reading somewhere that spray waxes will decrease the effectiveness of waffle weave microfiber drying towels over time. Have any of you experienced this? I suppose I can just use regular microfiber towels, but that will defeat the purpose of me buying the guzzlers. :(

I haven't used AW yet, but I'm excited to try it. I've used Eagle One Wax-As-U-Dry for a few years now as a drying aid, and I liked it. So I'm thinking AW will be even better.

I would love to hear you guys' input though regarding the guzzlers and AW. Thanks!

John

John,

I haven't heard this. It doesn't mean what you've said isn't true but then again I don't use it in the same way. Once the vehicle is washed and rinsed, I dry it with a leaf blower then apply a coat of spray wax then buff.

I'm wondering is anyone else can corroborate John's concern? This is an important note as microfiber towels are expensive....

I guess I could see this if the towel was thrown in a garage corner and allowed to "cure"...for few weeks....my waffles are pretty much washed right after a detail so it's never been a problem for me....

I have not found that yet. I do wash my towels after every use and add some Costco cleaner and degreaser to the wash as I have always done with a double rinse.

Does Duragloss Aqua Wax stain black trim?

I've seen no evidence of this in the 3+ months I've been using it...:props:

Duragloss makes some kick-ass products that do not disappoint....:props:

That's sort of one way to look at it. :) Technically speaking, Duragloss offers 4 types of QD - Fast Clean & Shine, Aquawax, Rinseless Wash, and you can even cut Rain Repel 50/50 (I think).

Thanks for the info, I'll end up picking up some Aquawax when I get low on my regular quick detailer, then order some more rinseless wash and also pick up a gallon of this stuff too. I see no need to dilute this product for it to work its best, correct?

I have not diluted it and have not had any problems. I did use the no rinse as a QD and it streaked on a Twilight Blue but did not see any streaking on lighter colors. I need to try different dilution ratio's with the no rinse as a QD. There was no streaking using the no rinse as a no rinse tho.

I used AW as a drying aid for a few years until I got ONR and now use that as a drying aid. I don't wash my towels until I get a full washer load worth of towels needing laundered. I never noticed any change in my drying towels doing things this way.

Aqua Wax is definitely better in the price range and appears to have a slight edge on Z8. The gloss seems to reach it's peak with in 12 hrs after application and I found Z8 to be the same. I am also using Duragloss 932 No Rinse with Aqua Wax (built in) which also is a great product so I should be well protected all around.

Dave

That matches my limited experience with AW too. I love it on my car but my dax is a z8 fan. I can tell they arent the same but their performAnce seems similar. Nothing about his z8 seemed superior to me so I'll save my money and stick with aw!

No, but it makes them look better and easier to clean.

richy,
Are you saying you have used Aqua Wax on tires ?. If so I have the perfect candidate with this service van to experiment on. I can see where they would be easier to clean after rinsing all the dirt off the body with the many dirt roads it see's.

Thanks for the input guys. :dblthumb2:

Seems like there's nothing wrong with using the guzzlers with AW, as long I don't let them sit for a while. I'll just try it out and see what happens, but I'll make sure to thoroughly rinse out the guzzler after. I won't know unless I try it right? Thanks again!

The product I was referring to for dilution was Rain Repel. I have not diluted it because I only use it for glass, but on the label it says that it can be used on paint. Aquawax does not need to be diluted. The rinseless wash directions for qd strength are 3oz water : 16oz rinseless wash. At this ratio it's actually safe to use as a waterless wash as long as you spray liberal amounts and the surface isn't heavily contaminated.

A big thank you to Richy and Richard for all the great Duragloss posts and compelling reasons why I should try these products...amazing stuff!! :props: :props:

No problem Bobby. I honestly owe it all to Richy, he's the one that got me hooked.

No. Sorry if I implied that.

AW is a great product.... Use it every few washes to give it a little extra pop.

If you liked Aqua wax, give FC&S a try and get a great detailer, cleaner and sealant in one.

I have that but hardly use it anymore. I prefer using ONR if I'm going to remove any dust or anything from the surface.
