Duragloss Enviroshield Ceramic Coating System

That site has always been that way...I think the site has the same info as on the box, which is not much. DG is marketed as an OTC product, not a boutique one.

And I balked at the price, until I saw that the original price at DG must have been an introductory promo (sorry if this has already been noted, I've been out of this thread for a while).

Our price is the same as manufactures, but at 9am this system is going on sale for a couple hours. Just a heads up.

Yes, I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, the AG price is the same as the mfr's price, but at the time this thread was started AG wasn't selling it yet and the mfr was. I wrongly assumed the mfr price at that time was the list price, but apparently they were doing some sort of pre-release promo.

Yes, checking the Duragloss website, they have raised the price for the Enviroshield system. To speculate, they must have been trying to sell their older stock. I noticed they have repackaged the system and included more information.

"Enviroshield Ceramic Coating System contains 1 ea. 4 oz. Nanoglass Ceramic Coating, 4 oz. Squeaky Clean Surface prep, Wax applicators and Microfiber towel. Notice no reference to sheeting.

After watching a few videos on youtube ive come to the conclusion that my application is the "odd" one... all of the others sheet water very slowly or not at all. The focus is still very very glossy (glass-like) and sheets water as if the coating was just applied.

From what I have found, sheeting is a by-product of technique. Isn't all of what we do like that? And, not to say that I have the answer, but I saw something on a forum somewhere that you can actually "push" the water sheet with a hose.

I tried that last week and it worked. (This is with DG 111 over two coats of 105. Dried with FCS or AW after previous washes.)

After taking the sprayer off the hose and just using water flow it started sheeting. Nothing fast. But, actually moving the flow across the hood or roof toward the back edge of the sheeting, it actually forced the water off. It left very few drops behind, although most were quarter to half dollar size. A FCS wipe with a MF picked up the rest.

My only point is watch how they do it as well as how well it works on the coating.

Just my opinion, but I don't buy that any LSP distinguishes much between beading and sheeting. It's either hydrophobic to a certain degree or it's not. High hydrophobicity should result in tight round beads and good sheeting.

To me, the OPs beading looked a bit disappointing as well. Please note, I'm not blaming the OP or saying he did something wrong. Sometimes coatings just don't work out for reasons we can not always elucidate.

I didn't pull the trigger on this product before the price went up. It's still a great deal, but it was a steal before.

Its about $10.00 more now, really? Compare it against its competition and look at what all you get.

I'll leave this here and make of it what you all will, but DG says.....

to me

Marc,
There has been no change in the Nanoglass Coating. We offered an introductory kit and lowered the cost for our customers to try.
Thanks for using Duragloss!!

$42.00 for the kit, competition is HOW MUCH for just the coating?

I've spoken to the head of DG research and development department on occasion and we recently discussed their new ceramic coating.

If prepped and applied correctly, the beads should be tiny, and tightly spaced. He said after final rinsing (flooding with open hose on low flow), there should be no water left on the paint minus a few drops). That's when you know you've nailed it. Also its designed to work with their other products namely their wash 901, Aquawax 951, detail spray 921, and rinseless wash 931.

Yes I included Aquawax in that mix. He told me if its applied while car is still wet with just a little bit applied (less is more) the look it gives on the coating will be off the charts.

Did he say anything to you about needing to wait 6 monthes to use AW on the car?

He laughed when I mentioned that ...called it misinformation. My interpretation of waiting to apply Aquawax has nothing to do with harming the coating and everything to do with the coating not needing any "help" or boosters until perhaps long after its applied. It was taken completely out of context. It was meant to mean....its not required as opposed to "don't do it".

Its the "why top a coating" analogy...its not required but most people reading this won't comply. No harm is done. That coating was designed to wash and drive way and stand on its own...top it if you must.

This is funny because it was Bill himself but its probably like you said, more of didn't need to rather than can't do it.

Has anyone told DG that enviroshield is a registered trademark with someone else...

Who is the someone else?

Google finds a mold release agent called Enviroshield from a company called Zyvax with a TM symbol by it. Also, there is a electrostatic spray called EnviroShield®.

But, to the OP, those things can be complicated in the law. Registered in a state may not apply elsewhere. You cannot Copyright © words. The copyright office has this to say about trademarks, etc. though (a different process). I bring this up only because I do copyright photos.):
"
"...The federal trademark statute covers trademarks and
service marks—words, phrases, symbols, or designs that
distinguish the goods or services of one party from those of
another...."

I think it has to do with the design of the logo.

Just trivia FYI.

Is Ag putting this on sale again?

Its the same price here as it is on DG's website but if you just wanna buy the Enviroshield system only get it directly from DG as the shipping costs are DIRT CHEAP! On the other hand if your placing a large order here the kit alone gets you 1/3 of the way to free shipping.

It's early to discuss the durability of the new DG coating but does anybody know about it's make up? Compared to Opti coat, is this a similar clear resin coating or a glass coating like CQuartz?
