Dusting with Griots FCC... what did I do wrong?

Just while we're on the subject, does anyone put polish/compound on the pad like Mike? In a couple of his videos, he puts a big X or a circle on the pad and gets great results. I feel like it would go everywhere if I did that.

Never an "X".

The center of the pad is where the moisture tends to migrate through the polishing process. When an "X" pattern is laid down, the intersection is exactly in the middle, right where heat from the machine transfers to the backing plate. This also means that the larger area of the circumference has less product by comparison.

Using the circle, or dots around the circumference allows for even coverage to the circumference, and balanced coverage for the center.

The only changes I make from that point are to specifics manufacturer guidelines, like the Meguiar's Dual Action Microfiber Correction System where they recommend full pad face priming, or Rupes system, which calls for a specific priming style.

I like four dots around the circumference, and reloading with two or three..
