Embedded material in the paint.

I've come across similar spots like those, claying, IronX, polishing couldn't remove it. Turns out the owner used to park under a tree, and it was sap that went through the clear.

I need to ironX the entire car and take note of overall changes. If it was sap, the TarX would've handled that, right? I assume sap falls under "organic" material.

Yes TarX if left to dwell would have most likely conquered sap.

This is interesting looking:

It has the look of rail dust, yet it doesn't in parts. So, I'm slightly baffled...

1. Can you feel these marks at all with your nail or a your "plastic baggied covered hand"?

2. I'm wondering what an aggressive claybar/alternative would conquer...?

3. Have you considered polishing?

This almost looks like overspray of some sort. Something that may have settled on the paint and embedded itself into the pores. Kind of like solvent based tire dressing sling....however sling stains are a faint yellow color. These stains I'm talking about tend to be permanent; your issue doesn't look like this, but does make me wonder if you're dealing with the same concept.

I decided to test things out on the drivers side fender. The entire car has been clayed with Mothers Claybar (been used a few times but I do have a brand new bar laying around) and the area I tried was prepped with ZEP citrus to remove all wax/contaminants. Then dried the entire area and applied IronX, let it sit for 6minutes, then removed it with a damp microfiber towel.

I repeated the process with TarX as well.

Have you tried an abrasive paint cleanser or finishing polish? Maybe test a spot with a microfiber towel and a dot of polish and see how that works. (or something more aggressive)

Like I mentioned before some stains can be permanent depending on what it is and we don't know what this is. Paint is porous, so this could be something that seeped through it causing staining under the clear. (randomly assuming this car is 2 stage)

Can I also assume you cant feel these?

Have you tried a test spot with compound and polish to see if they can be removed? Can't remember reading if you have or not.

I suppose this is my next step. To answer the questions about feeling it: no, I cannot. It seems flush with the paint. The entire car has been clayed so perhaps the clay broke off what remained on top? I suppose Megs Ultimate Compound/Polish would be strong enough to test?

I doubt it; clay is designed to 'pull' out contaminants.

Yes UC followed by UP would be fine to use and see if this helps. Maybe its just a stain that's reachable and can be corrected, but if this step doesn't work, you may be out of luck for the reasons I mentioned before. (Wet sanding would be another step that could be used, as it's far more aggressive, but should only be done by someone that knows what they're doing)

*Of course try a few inconspicuous contaminated areas before determining if it works or not.

Good luck and let us know how it goes..
