Looking to do a detail of my mazda 6 daily driver and looking fof something to use as a dressing. I know there is meguiars hyper dressing (dont need a gallon of the stuff) but i was wondering if i could use DP Gloss tire gel? Have two bottles sitting around and was trying to find another use for some of it? Any other suggestions on engine dressings?

I recently tried Stoners Trim (I forget the actual name. It's Trim Shine I think) and it worked great! Just sprayed it on a cleaned engine let it sit for 10 mins or so and buffed off the puddles and excess. It still looks great after a solid week of rain storms and it's cheap too.

DP tire gel says it is water based so thats why i was considering using it. Im trying to go the cheap route since i already have the product but if it wont work good im willing to buy something else

I am a fan of CD-2, which can be purchased at AutoZone. There's a lot to be said for an aerosol product that you can spray on everything (hoses, plastic, metal, paint, excluding the alternator, of course, and sensitive electronics). I imagine that the Stoners would work equally well, though I have not tried it for that purpose.

I've heard and seen great things with CD-2. I would have gone with it but I can't get it north of the border....

I'm pretty sure it has more to do with Turtle Wax not wanting to put the effort in to marketing it. From what I read it was hard to find in the states fo a while there too....

If you are looking for a glossy finish, then 303 will probably not give you that. But if you want to restore the brand new looking of rubbers and plastics, you will be impressed with 303.

I just tried CG back 2 black and WOW i love it.I use for the wheel wells also . Great stuff

Not wanting a glossy finish, i think ive finally out grown the glossy look:laughing: I was leaning towards the Finish Kare because of all the uses (including leather) and the price. So man choices!!!

I agree. CD-2 and Stoners Trim Shine are on the glossy side. It seems as though most aerosol engine dressings are glossy. The want to try the meguiars aerosol, though.
