So I've got this Model S in today with major defects. We used Adapt on Meguiars Microfiber cutting pad with the Rupes 21 to remove the defects. Tried finishing with Rupes yellow and white with Essence and there's still micromarring left behind. Both pads finish exactly the same with Essence. Might try SF4000 next, any suggestions? I thought Essence would finish perfect after 6-8 passes with a white Rupes pad.

Are you using the 21 with essence? Have read it doesn't really like the large orbit. Also, on the few cars I've used Essence on I've never done more than 4 passes.

I also read that essence requires only few passes.

What were you finishing with before Essence on Teslas. I've never had issues using 4000/4500 on them. I have held off on Essence because my Menzerna HD products work so well and I've already passed the learning curve part on those products.

I do 2-3 passes with Essence
Overworking the product will leave da haze which is actually dried up product that doesn't wipe off

Yeah, looks like I'll have to try the Flex.

This is my first Tesla, grabbing the 4000 bottle off my shelf now. I don't have 4500 so hopefully this does the trick.

I'd try out BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish. Jsmooth has polished a few Teslas and has had great results with it.

i had the same issue when using Essence with a Rupes yellow pad on soft BMW black paint. i got it cleaned up with HD polish and a Rupes yellow pad. i just got my shipment of Rupes white pads to see if i get better results.

The white pad maybe to soft,is the essence giving you ample time to work in.If so the pad isn't breaking it down, essence has a short working time frame ,try a micro cutting pad doesn't make sense but seems to be the trick for some reason .Ive done 5 cars with cutting pad and that was it,gave me a flawless finish and I was using X-ray vision too look for hazing or marring.never worked on a tesla yet so I'm just throwing out my personal experiences with essence and pad combo.

I had the same promblem,I said this product sucks .Before throwing it in the garbage my friend rob who is a seasoned detailed showed me how to use it,now I'm addicted to it.

Thanks for the shout out Ray! TO the OP I've corrected and coated 800 tesla's and I was a tester for essence for 6 months pre release. So this will sound funny but use a microfiber finishing disc with essence and make a couple cross hatch sections and see what it looks like. If you still having trouble after that please call me I'm sure I can walk you through it and we can get it figured out! Thanks!

Now working with the 3401.. Tried pf2500 on a white pad (marring), 4000 on black pad (marring), 4000 on red pad (marring)...
This picture is FG400 on microfiber followed by pf2500 on white followed by sf4000 on red. This Tesla will be the end of me.

I tried the micro finish disk it would dry up on me .I just use it with a micro cutting and works great with no hazing or marring, but then again they weren't tesla paint.

I feel your pain only to be workin on a sunburnt faded gel coat that 900 dollars worth of products won't make a dent in it.after mixing my formulation of products I have it dialed in.

Is this marring typically caused by paint that is "soft"?

Conversely, on hard paint, could it also be caused by a more aggressive polish (used prior to the fine polish) not finishing down properly? Then the fine polish cannot remove the marks because the paint is too hard.

Yesterday I was using D300 on a rover. And I had the same issue. So what I did was load the pad up, then make a couple of very quick and light passes over half the hood.

Cleared it up perfect.
