Ever See a 6' 280 lb Man Cry?

Last time someone tried doing that to me I actually stopped short pulled the keys out of the car and ran after the three kids. I caught 1 because all 3 split. Grabbed him got him to tell me where he lived and brought him to his parents and told them what he did. I said if their was damages I would of pressed charges but your lucky he missed.

I'm sorry to see this happened to you man. I hope its not costly and everything works out.

looks like it made it through paint to primer/metal, luckily those dents dont look too bad at all and PDR should remove those dents for a cost of around 150-225$ im guessing. even cheaper if you can remove parts out of the way to get under the dent. to fix the paint i would preserve as much of the oem baked paint as possible, fill with some high quality oem touch up paint let it go below surface slightly, apply clearcoat and wetsand/polish and if done good enough wont even tell anything happened and you still have 98% of your original paint remaining :). i honestly would steer clear of getting it repainted and go with PDR, see if insurance can cut a check and go about it your own way without no involvement from them so it will be done properly.

The little lady who thinks I often get too angry over stupidity on the road could only come up "shoot back?"

Wow. Like you were driving and they through a rock in your direction from the side? Or was it off a bridge like the OP's situation?

The phone pix/garage lighting don't really offer the best depth perception. Here's another pic that allows a little better view of the depth.

Matt, I mostly agree :xyxthumbs: but IMO, DON'T try to repair any part of the dent yourself. Pay a good PDR guy to do what they are good at. The best of them will put just about any other metal worker to shame. Don't take it to a body shop first. Body shop as last resort. Also I'm not convinced from the pics that the paint damage extends past the clear. Could just be scuffs in the clear. Matt makes a good point about touch up, if it comes to that. With a respray, the rest of the factory paint over a large area is made less than perfect in the process of making those damaged areas perfect. With a masterful touch up job, the repaired portion will look perfect and all the suurounding paint will remain perfect

That really sucks man. As someone who has managed repairs for a major insurance company for 10 years, I can tell you you won't get a new car, or a new roof. Don't get hung up on body filler - as a prior poster said most cars come from the factory with some filler to smooth seams, and a shop can't replace the roof without using filler on the seams, but a good shop will work the metal out nearly flat and just use a skim coat. Also, don't go for the misconception that dealerships have the best body shops - while some have great shops, it's all about the techs they have, not the association with a dealership. Whichever shop you choose, do a LOT of research online looking for complaints, issues, reviews, etc. Go to a reputable shop that has been around a while too, cause they are going to melt the clear in the sail panels and you want them to still be around if that fails in a few years...

I still would like to thank everyone that has taken the time to reply to my thread with consideration and knowledge.

I just had a short chat with a maintenance guy here at work. The same thing had happened to him earlier this year in the same exact place. That time the lowlife had better aim and did take out the windshield of his wife's van. The DOT really needs to erect a chain link barrier or something.

I also spoke with the insurance company this morning and the guy told me that this is the 9th incident like this that has happened in the area. I solemnly swear if I ever see someone throw anything onto the freeway I will kick the living sh*t out of them.

I am meeting with the adjuster this morning. Meanwhile, I am investigating reputable repair shops in my area.

Can anyone in the NE Ohio area recommend a shop?

Rix, thanks for your time and the information. The damage goes beyond the clear and base. It appears it goes into the primer.

I'll return with the information that I receive from the adjuster and I plan on visiting a couple of shops this morning to see what they say.

Such beautiful day here in NE Ohio; I'd much rather take one of my Harleys for a spin then deal with this.

OMG!!! I just got instantly PISSED!!!!! Thats so messed up man...I'm really sorry to hear this. I really want to cry with you man...hold me? LMAO!!! Naw man seriously I really wish you would have stopped and whoop the ish out of that person. But I understand why you didn't. I hope things work out for you, and I don't know what to tell you about the bondo. How I interpreted her comment was...don't say nothing...let them do the work...but if they put bondo on the car then tell them to get you a replacement vehicle which I don't think will happen. Its not like it came like that so I don't think a dealership would go for it. I don't think you'd get a new roof either. :( I really want to cry for you.

Man I am so sorry to hear that. I would stake that ##### out near that same overpass. Odds are, he probably does this type of crap regularly. Inform law enforcement asap, imo.

Wow. Like you were driving and they through a rock in your direction from the side? Or was it off a bridge like the OP's situation?

Yes on a side street within a mile from my home and it whized above the roof of my old car. If I was in the OP's situation you can't really do anything because most likely he was on a highway and cant really stop if their were cars behind him unless pulling over to the side was an option. I would of 100% went back though and tried to find them and beat the ever living hell out of them. We work hard to keep our cars the way they are and for someone to deliberately damage property is not right and deserves consequences. :xyxthumbs:

Theres really no such thing as a new roof, its part of a shell that can only be replaced by chopping it off a used car. The damage is not that bad(other than emotional damage) and can easliy be fixed by a body shop...who said Bondo is bad? Its a standard material used to perfect a baody before painting...not sure what the issue is?...Id be more worried about orange peel.

Man that infuriates me. ANY person worth their weight, that works hard, that contributes to society would NEVER do that to another person. In fact thats the reason I don't own a fire arm because i would NOT be able to control my self and prevent myself from shooting that guy dead where he stands. The world has no place for people like that. Im sorry bro. Truly.

Visted with the adjuster. She priced the job at 550 bucks. I asked her about the method of correction. She stammered and couldn't produce a coherent reply. She walked inside and went into her office to print up the paperwork. Meanwhile, I taunted the reception guy with pix of my bikes and the Camaro after I laid the mojo on them- thanks to this fine forum and the quality Wolfgang & Pinnacle products.

The adjuster lady came out with the figure and the folder with the paperwork. Honestly, I was surprised it was that low. She tried to sell me the home shop that her office was in. Alas, I informed her that I had other plans. She inquired as to what shop and I replied with the old misdirection play. I sent her in another direction while all the while I knew what shop I was heading to...

Ah, but first a stop at the Chevy dealer to retrieve the 500 dollar credit union member discount that they do graciously decided to tip themselves with. After 10 minutes of politely stating and restating my case the floor manager finally gave in and will send me 247 dollars. Looks like a call to GM is in order.

Now, off for a 30+ mile trip to another county to visit the shop that I want to do the work. These guys specialize in classic restoration and custom work. Their work places high in the Cleveland Autorama. Cool and down to Earth people. The owner of the shop will personally do the work on my car.

The adjuster underbid the job because she didn't figure in removing the front and rear glass to respray the roof. She figured in the removal of the antenna but not the headliner to get to the nut to remove it. After the headliner is out the owner told me he might be able to get at the mess from underneath and a light skim coat on top. If not, then he will weld little rivets outside and work it out that way.

Funny, a lot of what the respondents of my thread wrote the owner also said. What makes a forum great is the members and the knowledge that they share. I think I picked a good one. And I am not just blowing smoke up your exhaust. :)

I drop the car off tomorrow and will get it back Wednesday. Thank you again. Stay tuned!

... And the saga continues...

So, I got the car back last Wednesday. The owner instructs me not to wax the entire roof for 30 days because he re-sprayed the roof and the paint needs to "breathe". I wasn't even going to wash it! I asked him how he performed the repair and he said that while the glass/headliner was out he got to get at it from underneath.

So this morning I walk out to my car and notice a splatter of birdie doo on the roof. So I got my buckets and mitts out to give Ol' Ladykiller a shower.

It was then I saw the circular pattern of overspray 8 inches in diameter. Plus 2 dents still poking out in the paint. That rotten S.O.B. did not:

1) Remove/install the front and rear glass
2) Remove/install antenna
3) Remove/install headliner
4) Repaint entire roof
5) Completely repair damage

He simply mudded the area and spot sprayed the mud. The insurance company paid for the above list. I paid my deductible.

I am going back to show them the obvious evidence and demand my cash deductible to be returned to me STAT. Then I am going to contact the insurance agent. This guys ass is grass.

That's no joke, there was a kid a few years ago who was a star QB for a local highschool here in clovis,CA and received a D-1 scholarship.Sometime during the off-season he was throwing rocks off an overpass with some friends and it hit a windshield and killed the driver. He is still in prison.
