Fastest cut? Flex/wool or PC/microfiber

No finish issue at all so technique I will have him check the video out! Thank you

The last 2 cars I detailed were an '88 Jeep and an '88 Subaru both with original paint and both highly oxidized and neglected. I first tried the da and cutting foam with compound(3M). No luck so I resorted to the rotary and wool with compound. I then polished with Menzerna 1500 using the da and black foam. I finished with Menzerna Powerlock. Outstanding results and the owners of the cars were very surprised and pleased.

I think a rotary is in my near future. Dewalt or Flex 3403? That is the dilemma now

If you google 'mike Phillips rotary' there is a 2+ minute YouTube video briefly showing the technique. There are other videos here that show it in more detail.

Set a pencil size bead of product on the surface, set the pad at a 10 degree angle off the surface, turn on the buffer, run the buffer over the bead hitting the bead at the 10 o'clock position so it is carried into the pad. No splatter ever. It does not stop wool pads from shedding or dry product from dusting, but that's easy to clean-up with compressed air.

I love my 3401. BUT is the extra $200 really worth it over a Dewalt??

Having both a Flex and PC I've always found the Flex cuts faster. But then again this is forced rotation for ya :-)

Indeed, a hard question. Both are excellent polishers. I don't own a DeWalt (I do own a PE14) but I already tested it from a friend.
The Flex weighs around 1.3 kilos less. If you polish all day it makes a big difference. The only thing I don't recommend regarding the 3403 is that it starts on 1100 RPM instead of 600. So, in the case of DeWalt versus 3403, DeWalt is better (it also starts at 600). As always, my humble opinion.

I have been using my 3401 + TB black wool (they finish down better than you would EVER believe) + M105 or Flat Top or Americut for years and are all potent combos for correcting deeper defects. As long as you're not dealing with super soft paint, it will work great. For soft paint, mf + DA will work better. See my latest S & S with the QX56 that I had to use both machines on due to a repainted section.

Richy, I gotta ask. What kind of cigars do you prefer? I enjoy an Acid Blondie myself.

Polish Angel Master Compound with their wool cutting paid... best cut and finishing almost lsp ready.

Meguiar's 105 has the most cut of the three IMHO but the FG-400 isn't too far behind it plus it finishes down better.

Bought some 105 used it on some 2000 grit scratches with a megs mf pad nice results..

Their lambswool pad has amazing cut with the Flex 3401 when combined with a high quality compound. Better cut than tuffbuff lambswool, but may not finish quite as good.
