I'm thinking I need to start using a tire cleaner. I really dont use one now. However, I want something safe for my OEM wheels and something that wont absolutely kill the DG on the wheels if it gets onto the wheels.

I was thinking about Zep Citrus cut 4:1, but am open to other opinions.

Thanks!

The only thing I've ever used that really cleans a tire is the Tuff Shine Tire Cleaner. I scrubbed my tires multiple times with APC + 4 : 1. I thought they were clean. Then I used the Tuff Shine Cleaner and couldn't believe all the brown junk that came out of them.

I use Megs Super Degreaser 4:1 & a stiff brush.
Pulls brown out of the tyres like crazy but probably won't be much good for your LSP.
I think anything strong enough to really clean the tyre will have a detrimental effect on LSP...

I use this product to also clean tires as part of the overall tire/wheel cleaning-session...
It will inflict no damage to OEM wheels

(You can even pick some up at your local HD dealerships when in a pinch):

S100 Wheel Cleaner: Intense yet safe wheel cleaner that clings to vertical surfaces, spokes, etc. motorcycle wheel cleaner, s100 wheel cleaner

{Every time your tires rotate, they'll brown some ('bloom').
(When they stop 'blooming'...they're approaching the end of their expected life-cycle.)}

IMO...You'll find that each successive tire/wheel cleaning session will become less toilsome/tiresome...
Especially if you do decide to apply a tire-dressing, that this tire-dressing is a water-based PDMS product.

Note...I also will recommend having/using: Task-specific, tire "scrubbing-brush(es)".

P21s TAW

P21S Total Auto Wash is German nobility in a spray bottle!

P21S TAW is completey safe and gently just like you asked. There are more APC's that are more effective and work faster at removing deep grime from rubber, but none will be as safe as this product. For completely polished out alum lips or wheels I will only use this product to clean the tires. It will for sure NOT dull, spot or "flash" aluminum if used properly unlike other APC's.

Its expensive, not extremely strong, but effective and safe for specific usage like on clear coats or bare metals. And if your worried about damaging something then this is the product to use IMO.

Totally agree! :dblthumb2:

Very good description, Mike.
