febreeze car clips cause damage?

This is why it pays to keep up on possible problems with products and their affects...

I was looking at the POORBOYS line of fresheners.

you need to put them on the side vent by the door .Also make sure it isnt lose over time they will get lose and when you go over a bump thats when they can leak.

I've never used air fresheners and would never use this one now.

Wondering why my post was deleted here? Was it because I made mention of a product AG doesn't sell? Does AG sell febreeze?

It was only a comment, and experience that other well known fragrance air fresheners can and will also cause plastics damage.

I have used this particular air freshner for a couple of years in many cars (we have 5) and in my Mom's car. We have had no problems. These seem to last the longest of anything we have tried in the past.

Only two of the cars are garaged, so the others are in the heat all day with no ill effects.

I'll keep a watch on them, but I'll still like them over others I have tried.

Makes me glad I don't use air freshners! Guy I work with just had this happen to his Lexus. Not the exact same product but it was a vent clip type of freshner.

I have personally had the 'tree' shaped air fresheners eat the paint from metal dashboards.

Keeping my leather and other interior parts gives my car a nice "new car" smell. However, when it rains for days and nights and I don't clean my car for say a week, I'll just spray a little Febreze onto the carpets, front and rear. Works great!!

I don't like things that clip into the vent anyway. To much chance to some how snag it and break the vent slats. But that's me .

He put it on sideways because his vent flaps run vertical instead of horizontal. I would think looking at the product (which I have and use) with a little common sense, would lead someone to not use it in this manner.

I've seen it happen. Not on my car, but it will bubble the paint coating on vynil. But I like em so it's a gamble, just like everything else in life.

Anything ' Febreeze' causes me to gag when catching a wiff. I sure couldn't take it blowing directly into my face

NO THANKS!

My error in regards to a deleted post, sorry.

We had one in are old 06 honda civic and it leaked . Melted the plastic .

I had a similar problem with one of these air fresheners my wife put in her car. In the Vegas summer it leaked and stripped the paint right off a plastic panel. The new piece was $350 but I had it repaired for $100 after searching for someone who I trusted to repaint it.
