$27K in 2005 dollars is worth ~$43.6K in 2024 dollars - so it's not far from being a wash price-wise.

At the HPDE when that Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk passed me I asked my instructor, "How is that even possible?" He replied, "Electronics. Lots and lots of electronics."
 
Yes vehicles are evolving to the point that they are driving you instead of you are driving them.
Haven't learned how to clean themselves though.

The sad part is the average new car price in the US is now $47K. If you look at it that way, the Mustang is only slightly over that average! I agree though, inflation has hit the car market pretty hard. I have noticed the used market is starting to settle down a bit. Now we only need lots of people to take the hit with the new cars so we can scoop them up in a couple years after depreciation has set in.
