Hi gang,

I have recieved a few things that I thought I'd share with you guys. A good buddie of mine was kind enough to send me the following.

Now to the pictures:

To my friend, thank you for the wicked packing

The pads are the Menzerna pads and the backing plate is the 3M backing plate (yes, the one that Paul uses :D). I've heard rumors that the Menzerna pads are nothing more then regular Lake Country pads and others have said that the Menzerna pads are not regular Lake Country pads. Well I wanted to see for my self and they are not the regular Lake Country pads. They are hard and don't seem to have pours, so the polish wont go into the pad. Seems to me that the pads will keep the polish on the surface, I can see why people would get good results with Menzerna polish and Menzerna pads now. Looking forward to using them...using them tomorrow :righton:

This is wicked, the feel of the pad is incredable I'm impressed already. Can't wait to use it.

The following are things I purchased locally. The black fuzy thing is a 4inch single strand wool pad, then the 8inch Meg's wool pad and another 8inch single strand wool pad. I got two Meg's wet sanding blocks.

Here is my collection of backing plates now, starting at the left a 4inch, 5inch, 5inch (new) and a 7inch

Here is a comparison that I did for some of the pads I got. Like I said the Menzerna pad that I have now does not feel like any of the Lake Country pads nor the Edge pads...completely different pad. However, I do not have a CCS pad and I wonder if the Menzerna pad is like a CCS pad...only one way to find out.

Hey Han,

My friend lives in Europe and he was kind enough to purchase these products for me. I took advantage of the opportunity and ordered three of the backing plates...two are for me and one is spoken for.

Han, the backing plate is sweet...I can't wait to use it tomorrow, I'm pumped for tomorrow :awesome: Im the MAN :awesome: Im the MAN
Oh I took a picture of the product number on purpose for any of you interested on purchasing search for the product number and you will be able to find it.

can't wait to see your work and read your write ups on it. you have turned into the master!!
maybe you could pm me and explain the difference in menzerna - jimmie helped but i am still a little confused.

Carlos,
Those new 3M Backing Plates look terrific. Glad one of them is for me :-) A special thanks to Nica and Bence for getting these items for us. I'm looking forwards to using the new 3M backing plate and the 5" Menzerna foam pads.

Its kinda fun chasing after some of these illusive hard to find detailing items, and actually getting them.

And a special thanks to vxrmarc and Paul Dalton from the UK, for telling us which backing plate Paul Dalton is using. Really appreciate this guys.
You all are the best.

Cheers,

Nica..very Impressive collection.....nice plates....the Foam used on the menz pads are made by Swisstex...and LC does use thier foam and I believe Edge does also..but maybe use different grades.....Funny the white Menz pad is the compound pad..the Orange is the Polishing pad....

I will be interested to hear your results with them....also that 3m plate is real nice....I had a chance to get one in Europe but I passed....now I find out they are not available here...I may have to make a call since I do like it..LOL....

But let me know how the Menz pads work....they are not bad priced in Europe....so may get a few since they are rigid...

Have fun

Al

You sure buy a lot of pads Nica. I think you really do have PMS.

Thanks for the feed back Al I'm really looking forward to the Menzerna pads I've heard great things about them..well and not so great things too, but I'm the type that likes to find out things for my self. I enjoy re-searching things and then testing things out for my self.

Al, the 3M pad is wicked, I've been man handeling it and I placed it on my Metabo (didn't turn it on :() but it feels really good...oh and it bites on the pad incredably...so looking forward to tomorrow.

I'll be posting the resutls with these pads and backing plate soon....I'll have to remembe the opposite about the color of the pads hahahaha.

ltoman, yup it's nice to be able to get things that us Canadians can't have access to. Thank you for the compliment babe about me being a "master" not quite just yet but eventually...after 20 years or so I might be close to Toto, Justin, Al, Killr...and so many others..the list goes one for ever...hahahaha. Nothing to be jelous about babe just toys to play with. I will be in touch with you soon Lauren and I'll be more then willing to help out with Menzerna products...mind you all I know is from re-searching, here at AG and other places oh and most importantly trying things out my self....(the best way to learn :D ). By the way Lauren, I haven't seen much of you lately. You've been busy I take it? Glad to hear from you babe, I've missed you.

Larry, the products look sweet but it's even better using them. I love the P21S Whell Gell...my Lexus loves it ;). Thank you for the compliments Larry, you'll be getting your share soon.

Gary Sword, yes I admit it I love pads. Cant get enough...in fact I'm moving on to wool pads now ;) ....what's after wool pads? mmmm...who knows but for now I got a challenge and I'm looking forward on learning....hey Gary your another one that I haven't seen around to much lately. Glad to see you around always enjoy your feed back buddy.

Oh since I brought up missing people anyone seen Nick19? Hope hi's back is okay.

Nice haul there.

Should get some excellent results with the menzerna range.

Dave

joe.p - thanks bro

davet - well I got the right stuff to achive great results...so now comes the fun part...using them all up and experimenting and seeing what works and what works even better :D

I thought I should share this. With all the excitement about getting the 3M backing plate (by the way the baking plate is wicked :awesome: I just came back from the garage...so late but wanted to use it badly) I neglected to notice something on it. The threading, the 3M backing plates that I have are M14 and my Metabo has 5/8inch threads...therefore not compatible. Not a big deal, simple solution. I had one of the guys at my machine shop build me an adaptor (looks more like an extension). So the adaptor is as follow M14 Male with 5/8 female...there problem solved and it looks something like this.

So if any one else gets there hands on the backing plate just keep that in mind...I have my source looking to see it's possible to get the backing plate in a 5/8 size but even if it's not available the backing plate can still be utelized with a quick adaptor. The backing plate is wicked and the adaptor actually helps...I'll explain tomorrow.

Oh and I used the Menzerna pads too I'll elaborate more on that tomorrow when I post the vehicle.

Just thought I'd share.

[edit] - for those of you that own a Metabo, I had the adaptor made exactly as the extension that comes with the Metabo. So a cheaper way of getting the adaptor done is by taking the extension that comes with the Metabo to a machine shop and having the machine shop re-threading it to match the backing plate.

I got the backing plate from Europe, I have a friend that was kind enough to send me three of them and yes the middle part is soft and that's what makes this backing place sweet :righton:. I'll be using this backing plate from now on.

Compadre! that is really nice selection you have there! That BP and adapter looks wicked awesome!

Carlos, I done a search from your post http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/6496-2007-pontiac-g5.html and found this. Question, why can't you get this backing plate in the US? I'm thinking this is what I'm needing on my rotary.

Sparkie....I am calling a friend of mine thats a 3m rep and ask about that plate..to see if it is here...it has a metric thread..a M14 thread...but they do have a adapter for it....when I find out I will let you know....I will grab a few if available here...if not i will make a call to Europe..
