Oh I hear you on buying stuff you don't need.Yeah I have a habit of buy stuff I really don't need! But I have only used the CCS pads and have had good luck with them. Was really just looking for a possible quicker way to bang out the compounding step without pulling out the trusty dusty Makita rotary.

I'd think that unless you just really want to pull out that rotary that honestly, there's nothing that the 3401 won't be able to fix in the compounding step that the rotary would. (And without a chance of holograms/buffer trails while probably doing it just as fast.)
