Finishing Polish questions

Hi,

So over the past several days, I took it upon myself to polish the entire G35 (Black) with Poorboy's SSR2.5 and the orange light cutting pad. Because I have such little experience with the Porter Cable, I was not able to make the car LSP-ready without using a finishing polish. There is still quite a bit of haze and some micro-marring left on the veihcle.

So, I took advantage of the BOGO and bought the Optimum Polish and I have a few questions.

1.) I want to do the whole car with Optimum Polish with a CCS 5.5" White Polishing Smart Pad, and then go to my LSP. Is this okay, or should I use a different color pad?

2.) What is the process of applying Optimum Polish with White Pad (or whatever pad I should be using)? I tried doing the hood like so: applied Opt Polish to half the hood at speed 3 with a white pad, and then worked the polish in at speed 5, using across and up-and-down motions applying little pressure. This turned out to work pretty nicely but maybe I'm using the wrong pad and maybe I still have to work in 2x2 sections?? Again, it came out nice, but not 100%, but I'm thinking that this may be the best I could do because my local machine car wash had raped my car's paint SO badly.

3.) After Optimum Polishing the whole vehicle, I'd like to apply a coat of Duragloss #105 to the vehicle. Should I use a white pad or a green pad?

Thanks,
Emile

When applying the LSP, White, Blue or Red Pads are fine, if you have any hazing, do a 50/50 wipe down.

Thanks, Wendell.

Almost finished polishing the G35 with the Optimum/White Pad combo. The Optimum Polish really brightened the car up, the paint looks super duper wet and I didn't even add the LSP's yet.

I just wish I was able to get all of the scratches out but I think they are just too deep for SSR2.5 and Orange Pads. Oh well, still looks worlds better !!!!!!!

Post some pics of that G35, I love that car, classy, sporty and will get up and boogie !!!!

As soon as she's all clean and ready for pics, I will take some. My schedule is super hectic during the week but I am guessing the car will be ready for pictures closer to thanksgiving. I'm shooting to finish the polishing tonight, as well as applying a coat of DG105. I'm going to use the green pads for the DG105, I hope that is okay because I have 3 green 5.5" pads and they are still unopened and unused !!!

I think Natty's Red or Fuzion will go on top.

I have finished detailing my BMW and my wifes 2009 CRV... up next is my fathers 2008 G35 sedan (also black)
I hope to have that finished up this weekend. I'll post pictures here for comparison :)

I did a second coat of DG105 last night, just to ensure even coverage. I also applied a coat of Natty's Red this evening and buffed it off. I may apply another coat or two of the Natty's Red. Will try to get pictures ASAP.
