First day using Bilt Hamber touchless.

I'd love to see them release a coating

Just ordered some touch-less, and was wondering a couple things:
a) does this strip any lsp (in particular ceramic coatings)?
b) safe for PPF?
c) anyone tinker with dilution ratios to make a waterless wash?

Much appreciate any input, and looking forward to using this. Thanks

Touch Less is alkaline so it's best to be rinsed well afterward -- don't see WW being an option.

Bullet A and B : It's a high PH wash so YMMV on how much or how little it degrades, but just walk into know it is a high PH wash and it can

I treat this stuff not a daily wash product but use case scenario - super dirty, ultra dirty, way to much road film in all nooks and crannies, etc.

I have always been the type to just add a few ounces of APC into my foam cannon along with whatever PH neutral soap I am using. Will Bilt Hamber Touchless noticeably out perform the PH neutral soap + APC combo?

I've put a PH 13.5 - 14 in my shampoo mix depending on the level of muck I need to get off as pre rinse

Can't say for sure....as I've never combined a PH neutral soap and APC. I can only tell you that Touchless is a very solid product that delivers exactly what it says it will. I apply mine with an IK Foam Pro 12 at 25:1 ratio....stuff just flat out works

This is the ratio I use in the winter time to melt away the muck BEFORE entering the touch-free wash, basically 5 oz of Bilt-Hamber and 1 gallon of distilled.

During the other monthes, when using Bilt-Hamber, I'll use 3 oz/1 gal because the car isn't as dirty/muck filled, plus using Bilt-Hamber every so often open that coating up more as well.

I think using a proven product to do the job, especially one as GREAT as either Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam, is a no-brainer

Briefing this thread. Is the choice of using a hand foaming pump more due to
-lack of PW
- choice of use for consumption of product

I have a battery operated hand sprayer and I could rig up a Tee Jet Foaming Nozzle and such but given the options, it's a whole lot faster just doing the foam cannon route

My only gripe with foaming is the shaving cream it leaves on the driveway but between the post wash and, much of it has either run off or at least got really diluted.

That is correct in my case. I do not have a power washer so I use the IK foam pro 12

You will use more in a foam cannon since you'd fill that about halfway with soap vs a few ounces in a pump up foamer.

Yeah the foam cannon PIR seems to work out to 1:1.

New users to Bilt-Hamber Auto-foam or Touchless will notice its NOT shaving cream, it's actually kinda runny because this product is all business or a better way to say it...ALL GO, NO SHOW

You won’t get shaving cream thick foam. Designed to be a little runny.

As others stated for saving product and also trying to figure out a 4% panel impact ratio in a foam cannon.

Basically you will want to figure out how much product to mix in your foam cannon with water and then figuring out how it mixes with water coming out of the cannon to have a 4% dilution of AutoFoam to water.

Easier on a pump sprayer…. 4oz to 100oz. Doesn’t mix with water being sprayed through cannon so there is your 4%.

You can read a little about PIR here and also google it.

I swore years ago I would never import any more detailing products from overseas.....
I've somewhat stuck to that....
Ha.

I also swore never to add more pre-foam to my stash, and I have quite a bit of 5L's jugs all about 60%+ full from my previous overseas foam acquirements...

 I bit the bullter. I ordered Touchless and Auto Foam just to see what the futz all the chirping is about.
I have used Auto Foam a long time ago and wasn't impressed by it. Maybe it was reformulated. I dunno.
But too many positive reviews on this that I just have to have some on deck ready to soak and rinse off the pending winter grime

Scrolling Back on post #128.

Ha, speaking of winter washes. To some degree it's nice to wash the car but in so many aspects, it's so futile....
The minute you pull the car out of the garage, there is just windborn residual salt, sand , etc in the air that it just get's dirty.
It won't be crusted dirty but the panels to me, just equally as dirty and I often wonder, why I even bother ;-/

Are you using it in a foam gun or an IK Foam Pro 12? I use the latter because I don't have an air compressor and anywhere from 3-5 oz w/1 gallon of distilled water melts away dirt and or winter "muck". The foam cannon and that PIR ratio sounds confusing but to me it seems a 50/50 mix in the foam gun does the trick.

Bilt-Hamber Touchless and Auto-foam are the KEY to beating old man winter and resetting your paint during the other seasons

I don't count cost per use cause if I did, I wouldn't own half the crap I own...
Probably will foam gun it since I will have the wand out anyhow
I'm sure hand spraying is a bit better on cost per volume

I *do* have spare tanks , etc for my battery powered sprayers (Milwaukee) and it's a straightforward mod to add a T jet and atomizer to the wand to make it even more frothy (even though BH is known to not be much of a foamer).

I've never considered it since it was always somewhat -icky poo- but thinking I might do a Fluid Film Undercarriage as well

Agreed. I used to use Touchless/Auto-Foam in a foam cannon and from my testing with finding my PIR was 13.5 ounces in a foam cannon to get 4% PIR and that boils down to 12.5 washes per bottle. The math ain't mathin' at the price we Yankees pay for it. I switched to using it in an IK Foam Pro 12 with an air compressor from Amazon and I now use 4 ounces per wash, if the vehicle is heavily soiled. I'm now looking at 42 washes per bottle at around 3.5% PIR and after going through a couple of bottles of Touchless the savings will pay for the Foam Pro 12.

I purchased IK foam tank eon's ago and IMO...if one if familiar with commercial spec spray tanks used for pesticide, insecticide, etc - the IK felt cheap....build quality, hose, wand, overalll material thickness of the tank, etc.

For those not familiar, I suppose it is a purpose specific product for a specific market.
Akin, to how all these detailing pressure washer stuff is out there these days when it's always existed for decades for the cleaning pressure washer industry

It's pretty straight forward to mod one - although it is more work Drill hole. Add Schrader valve
Modify wand for a T jet foaming head/atomizer from a irrigation supply.

I just read through this whole thread and I can't believe Chilly lives in Alaska and only has a carport, and that he used to live in Hawaii.

Oh, and...

anywhere from 3-5 oz w/1 gallon of distilled water melts away dirt and or winter "muck".

...since we're not going to be able to get this stuff anymore anyway, that seems like an awful lot of product. Has anyone tried that kind of dilution ratio with a conventional wash? I mean I'm guessing if I used 5 times what I normally do in my foam gun with a regular shampoo it might work a lot better than it normally does at getting film off. Yeah, I know the PH is much higher on the Touchless--I'm just wondering if part of the "magic" of this product is using so much. I'm not doubting anybody's results, just sayin'.
