I finally decided to start detailing part-time after spending countless hours researching on the forums these past few months. After putting together a detailing menu the next step was to just go out there and start working! I realized that no matter how much you know or read about detailing that won't do you any good until you actually go out there do it.

This Z06 is a buddy's car that he drives almost everyday and tracks a couple times a year. It wasn't in too bad of shape to begin with but it needed some work done to make it look new again.

Here's what we decided on:

Exterior:
-Hand Wash/Decontaminate Paint
-Detail wheels, wheel wells, & brake calipers
-Engine bay detail
-1 Step Machine Polishing of the paint
-Wax
-Rejuvenate exterior trim

Interior:
-Vacuum
-Air purge all nooks and crevices
-Steam Clean Seats, Carpets,& Mats
-Clean, Condition & Protect Surfaces
-Windows

Overall this job took me a total of 22hrs. to complete. I took my goold old time and really wanted to learn a lot from this detail job. I love the way the car turned out and the customer was in shock as to how clean I got their vehicle :xyxthumbs:

The one thing that I couldn't figure out is how to rejuvenate the plastic fender flare behind the front wheel. I tried numerous products on it and no luck. All the other trim came out great except that. Any ideas?

Killer job ....looks like your on the way to many more with that level of work. Now work dropping the amount of time spent. Time is money...

Try Solution Finish on the plastic, should blacken it very well. My new favorite trim dressing.

That's one thing that I learned from this job. Since it was a friends car I didn't really mind spending the extra time to go the extra mile and see what I can really do, but I couldn't agree more with your comment.

:iagree::iagree::iagree:

Solution Finishes was the first product I tried b/c I love that stuff and it worked on the rest of the trim expect that piece.

Then I tried Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus, Back to Black, Turtle Wax Trim Restorer, Stoner Trim Shine, nothing helped. I was shocked but sometimes I have to remember that not everything will come out perfect. I tried my best though.

Your first detail???? You are good!!!!!

First paying detail....i've always messed around with our family cars but never charged anyone before so I wanted to make sure that I did a great job for them. Thanks for the compliment!

Very nice detailing-job!
Very nice work space...and equipment!!

Being more efficient working faster while maintaining my standard is something I'm working on myself.

Looks great!!

As mentioned earlier ........ time is money. We all go the extra mile for friends and family, but a job like this should be 8-9 hours max.

Thank you. I'm still working on setting up my garage to be even more detailing friendly but I'm happy with the progress so far.

That's what I originally figured....but I got a little carried away!

Thank you....i'm always trying my best.

You did a killer job on the string ray. I just took delivery of a 2015 Z 06 on Tuesday morning for my wife. Ofcourse it's Black as this one is...can't wait to get after it this coming weekend. Told the dealer if that touched it in any way they could keep it. Loads Of damage happens at the dealer IMHO.....Iron X the whole car is my first step.
