Hey all!!! I'd like to start off by thanking everone who posts regularly here. You all have been a big help!!!!

I used my PC today for the first time and snapped some pics. The car is a 1999 VW Jetta Wolfsburg Edition that I'm donating to charity and I thought I'd get a little PC practice in before I tackle my 2005 Ram QC. My process was:

WASH

I first mixed up 2 oz of NXT wash in 8 oz of water in the AG foam gun. I applied the foam all over the car and let it dwell while I hooked up the power washer and mixed up a 5 gal. bucket of NXT wash. I then washed the entire car with my Wheel Schmitt. THis thing was DIRTY as it has been sitting for about 4 months. I then spayed the car off with the power washer. I then dried the care with a cheap waffle weave microfiber towel along with a bit of Mothers quick detailer to lube the towel.

Claying

I didn't clay the car because I was to eager to get started with the PC!!!!

PC

I just did the hood for now as I had other "domestic" duties to do....

Here's what I started with....

I used an Edge Green Pad and XMT 2 to start with, but I didn't think it gave me enough cut so I swiched to a yellow pad. I used this much compound, does it look about right?

I quckily realized that I needed a more aggressive compound, but XMT 2 was the strongest I have so I made due...

Halfway done...

Final results....

Anyone know what the white specks are? They aren't visible unless you get right up to the paint...

That's the best I could do given the materials I have and the short amount of time I had to work with.

I topped this with some XMT glaze and some Liquid Souveran, but alas I didn't snap a picture as I had to return quickly to my chores ;).

Thanks again for all your help...

Dave

Looks good Dave. :applause:

That's a bit to much product. You want to use about this much...

Two pea/dime sized dots.

I am going to take a guess the white spots could be chips in the paint. Since you used XMT, I'm pretty sure the polish would have removed what was there.

You can try to clay, and see if that helps. Otherwise I have no idea.

I would have personally upped the polish to XMT #3 with the same pad, and saved the yellow pad. You probably won't use the yellow pad too much. It's far to aggressive for a normal polish. I would use the yellow pad with XMT #4 and nothing else. The ORANGE and GREEN pads are good pads.

sweet, thats nice of you to donate it

:iagree: Not only is it nice of you to donate it but to detail it and donate...very kind of you.

Oh yea, you were asking about the little white spots? I noticed this too when I did my Volvo and it's imperfections on the paint, well at least that's what I concluded after standing there scratching my head for a few ours...lol. Rock chips, deep scratches ect...after I applied the XMT Glaze those small imperfections vanished. I'm really happy with the XMT Glaze.

Just wondering, you know how you showed that big scratch on the picture, how did you make out with that? Did you remove some if it? and if so what did you use?

Just wondering.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed the write up. Doesn’t the PC just rock :righton:

Thanks for sharing Dave. Looks really good.

Thanks all for the kind words!!!

I've got some XMT 3 and 4 coming in the mail so I'm going to try them out on Thursday if it isn't towed off by then...

Nica, the scratch is about 60% gone now with 1 pass, and I did use XMT glaze but I got no pictures :(. Maybe on Thursday I'll get pics...

Thanks again, Dave
