First time ever buffing!

So i just recently painted this car myself

But as you can see the clear layed down with quite some orange peel! This always happens when you are not familiar with the clear and its your first time using that clear! It lays down with quite some orange peel! So after i wetsanded ALL the orange peel off this is how it looks!!

It looks pretty good to me! Not the best thing ever but it sure looks alot better than what it did!!! Let me know what you guys think!

Did you end up doing all the sanding by hand?

Yes mike same car!!!! I did half of the car by hand and i just felt so beat up! So i took it to school one day and did the other half of the car with my da... So much better! An for some reason, the da seems leave a more uniform and solid result than doing it by hand!
 
Paint is not my forte. Although, I do know how to do it...and I stay away cause I know how much work it is!

This my friend, is a quality job you did. Nicely done!

I love painting! I am in autobody collision repair school and its so fun! It is alot of work when it comes down to the painting!! But its worth it!
 
could you explain the entire process and product selection ? That would be more beneficial and add a bit more to the journey for us interested in a feat like this than just,

lol i get what you mean! well in an earlier thread i talked with mike about this and he said that as long as you know how much clear your car has then you can go ahead and start sanding! i myself painted this car and when i was spraying the clear i over mixed it and didnt feel like just throwing it away so i ended up spraying 4 coats of clear. now that i dediced to buff it i started wetsanding with 1000 to quickly remove all orange peel and then worked up to 1500 grit and then 2000 grit. once that was done i used a wool pad on my Makita rotary with some meguiars m105 compound. it took at least two passes of this to bring out a great shine, after i finished with m105 i proceeded with meguiars m205 on a foam pad. a few passes of this brought out a real nice shine. then i used some meguiars #7 showcar glaze( just to see how it looked) on a foam pad. once all that was done i just topped it with some meguiars gold class wax. btw, the smell of the gold class wax is going to make you want to eat it! lol! but thats all the steps i took! ill be posting more pictures once this stupid rainy weather disappears!
 
For your first time ever buffing, you really did a great job. Looks like your working on your future. :xyxthumbs:
 
Good use of the rotary. Definitely have talent with tools and process. Good Job!
 
What sucks the most is that i did it outside when the sun was barely shining and i had barely any light. I need to buy me them lamps i ser everyone on here use!
