Flex 3401 or Pc 7424xp For Paint Correction

I have been noticing more and more that the general consensus is that the Flex is ideal for paint correction where as the Pc seems to be more a favorite for applying waxes and sealants. I currently have the Pc and am on the fence about ordering a Flex. Is the Flex better at removing more defects than the Pc or can the Pc do the same job just requires a little more elbow grease?

Flex is a better machine for correction because of its forced rotation. It is a true DA and is very well built. I also have a PCXP and use it for light correction, finish polishing, and LSP application. The only knock on the flex is its inability to use a smaller backing plate for smaller pads, but it is much better and faster when doing large correction jobs.

I have both and probably haven't used my Flex in about a year now other than for some testing. Either will do the job just fine and it simply comes down to user preference.

I also have both tools, and fully agree with the above statement. Either will work very well for paint correction...

Both. Use the Flex 3401 with 6.5" and the PCXP with 4" pads. I have a Griot's DA that I use with 4" pads, but polish most of the car with the 3401 and 6.5" pads. If the damn pad didn't stop rotating on curved surfaces with the Griot's DA, I'd probably use it full time. I learned on the Flex 3401, and when you get used to a pad that never stops rotating, it's hard to use something else. JMO

I don't have a Flex but I am able to obtain pretty darn good results with a PC.

You're preaching to the choir bud. I totally agree! I do have both, but find I can achieve just as good results with the PC...BTW nice relection shots, but do you have any sun shots (that show the true condition of your paint)? oke:

Thats some serious reflection/shine in those pictures makes me want to go work on my car but with no garage and Michigan winter it'll have to hold off for a few. Now to just learn to be that handy with my pc, I think I'm going to hold off on getting the Flex for now
