Flex 3401 vs. traditional DA thoughts...

You've made some great points! The final results are the combination of machine, knowledge, products, and good old experience. Through experience, the machine becomes an extension of your hands, your eyes and brain take over and the machine performs that magical transformation giving you spectacular results. :props:

I really like the Flex 3401. Initially it took some time to get used to the differences between it and my Porter Cable 7424 and there were many. Once I became comfortable I quickly realized how much of an asset the forced rotation, additional power, and ergonomic design really meant and was able to polish a panel in less time and more consistent due to the features the Flex 3401 offers...

Even with all this I really like my rotary polishers with one minor exception....SLING...:laughing:

There are ways to minimize sling but no matter how hard I try there's always some...

BobbyG I wonder if you being an old rotary guy has helped you in the learning curve with the flex. I know from all the years of using a rotary starting with an old 15 pound alloy bodied Milwaukee 30 years ago you learn quickly to control the machine or it's going to be a long tiring day. My GG d/a almost feels like a toy in comparison to using a rotary. I would think a person that has gotten very good with a rotary could make the switch much easier than someone that has only used a D/A.

When I was trying to decide what kind of polisher to buy I searched all the threads. You really are on here at least 10 times (like you said) flex, no flex, flex, no flex. lol. I ended up with the flex because for some reason I will always gravitate towards the higher quality (and usually more expensive) machine. I like it but don't really have anything to compare it to. I thought you were all about the megs MF discs these days?

I STILL am all about the MF discs and a traditional DA for the best cut(outside of a rotary), but for 1-step corrections, you can't beat the 3401. :dblthumb2:
