Is it possible to use the Flex VRG 3401 with a wool pad and Optimum Hyper spray compound instead of a rotary? Feed back please

No. Only use wool with a rotary.

Didn't we just have a thread about this? I've used wool on my Cyclo for metal polishing, and Joe from Superior Shine chimed in about using PC's/wool on Air Force One, and I thought Mike Phillips also talked about using wool with a PC. Maybe I'm hallucinating.

I know people have used the purple foamed wool on PC's.

Personally I only use wool with my rotary though.

I believe the reason why people see results with the PFW pads on a DA is because of the foam part itself.

My understanding is a full wool pad would not work effectively at a DA as the long wool fibers would just be absorbing the DA polishers motion.

An example is if you using a string mop. You dont use small circular motions like a DA as the cotton strings will bunch up and absorb the motion. Instead you would use a one directional sweeping motion.

I'm not saying wool pads won't work with a DA but it's not going to be more effective than an aggressive foam pad.

I would say that if you want an effective alternative to wool for a DA or Flex, pick up some Surbuf pads.

  • What are you working on?
  • What are you trying to accomplish?

Sometimes the little details help us provide more specific help...

Don't think it was me... wool pads work best on rotary buffers, with DA style polishers long fiber pads are not very effective.

The Surbuf pads have very short fibers and do work well with DA polishers depending upon what you're trying to accomplish.

I've used the Flex 3401 on several occasions with the LC purple foamed wool pads with say D-151 and very good results.
