Flex with Meg's MF DA

On the other hand, if we're going to talk about the system's results on the "weakest machine" let's talk about the Gen-I Porter Cable.... which will stop rotating even with almost zero pressure.

I found that it doesn't produce anywhere near as much cut, though it does leave a bit less hazing than the G110.

I had good results with my gen1 pc especially with 3" pads. But it is a little tricky on curved surfaces.

I just tore mine apart after that recent buffing session and re-greased all the bearings, cleaned the motor, etc.... hopefully it improves the performance a bit. That machine has 10 years and about a million miles of paint on it :laughing:

Works great with the 3" pads though!

Oh it'll give you results, it's just nowhere near as quick to produce them as the newer machines are.

Well, just to even the sides up a little, I use my Flex with the new Meguiar's MF system AND the Surbuf pads. I'm pleased with the results and ease of use for both.

As an option I've used the Surbuf on my Porter Cable with great results as well. I've not tried the Meg's MF system on it yet because I haven't wanted to buy 5" pads along with the 6" pads I have.

In the end, I'd say either machine is going to work well.

Try the MF system on the PC, I bet you'll think it works a lot better.

In a nutshell, it comes down to user preference. I'd suggest trying them both. I did.

I wish I would have seen this post before I got Meg's MF system.
I have a Flex 3401 and really like it. I just got the MF system based on comments from a another thread I was involved with.

Unfortunately, I don't have a camera to snap some photos but this is what I experienced.
Vehicle: 2010 VW Jetta
Paint: severe scratches from what appears to be car drive thru car wash. In addition, the car was detailed by someone else and there were swirls all across the hood and trunk. There were buffer streaks throughout.
The correction compound was not able to make adequate correction on the hood, roof, and trunk. On the hood, I ended up using Meg 105 with orange pad. On the roof and trunk, I was able to make the correction using Wolfgang Swirl Remover with Orange Pad.
The Correction Compound did a great job on the rest of the car. Any areas that needed some small scratch correction, I would use the 105 w/ Orange pad.

The finishing wax went on pretty easily and wipe off was quick. Finish looks great! I am really pleased with the results considering the general consensus is that the Flex 3401 does not work well with the MF system. I did notice the center of the correction pad really taking a beating as mentioned earlier.

Overall, I am happy with how much faster it is to use the MF system. I can only imagine what it would be like with a Meg DA. Anyone got one they want to sell cheap? rops:

driver just came and got the car.......he was speechless. chalking this one up as a victory!
