One thing to look at in jacks is not only their weight limit, but also look at the size of the hydraulics.
Example: I bought a 6T (about $100) some years back from my local auto parts store. Like to bust a gut when using in on about a 4000lb lift. Went back to store and looked at their various models...EACH and EVERY model from 2T to 6T used the SAME size of hydraulic unit. Yes, the frames were much heavier, but the lifting part was still tiny.
As was said above, you DO get what you pay for.
