Foam cannon soap thread

Where did you source the CarBrite? I can get some through my dealership contacts but haven't found a cheap-enough local or online source that is attractive enough to make me add yet another detailing site to my already-large list.

Go to their website and type in your postal code in the distributor finder. There is one in Quebec.

I do the same thing. I like both the CG Honeydew and Mr. Pink. I use the two bucket method the same way. To be honest, when my cars are dusty or lightly dirty, the cannon cleans them great without the two bucket method. Just wet down, soap and rinse.

For a lightly dirty car, not one that's driven in the rain, just light dust.... foaming and rinsing will usually be all it needs. (Assuming of course you have a good LSP already on it.):dblthumb2:

I'll add here that after trying tons of shampoos in both the foam gun as well as the cannon I keep 4 on the shelf these days.

Megs Hyperwash - by far the thickest and stickiest foam I've found.
Duragloss 901 (902 in the gallon) - great lubricity, decent foam, rinses well, leaves nice shine.
CG Honeydew (although I may drop Honeydew).
CG Mr. Pink - Best foam of the two CG shampoos.

I've used shampoos diluted and 'straight' as well as mixed with other shampoos. By FAR I prefer to use them mixed. (Whether in a foaming device or via 2BM.)
Since I started using Hyperwash I use less than half as much as I used to do to get the same foaming action. (Well actually better, longer lasting foaming action.)

I get all my car brite items from a local company called "the wyric company"

the sell car wash soap, waxes, polishes, pads, microfibers, paint, paint thinner....basically anything that has to do with automotive finishes.

They sell all in bulk sizes to all the local car dealerships and detailers .

Im thankful they sell to the general public like me!

They have a soap called Hawaiian Shine....with their label on it....That stuff is amazing! I found it somewhere on line under a different manufacture!
 
I think it might be beneficial to include the soap to water ratio in the discussion.

For instance, I can get DP Xtreme foam shampoo to produce as much foam as CG Honeydew with my MTM cannon, but I have to use 4oz of DP soap in a 32 oz reservoir compared to 2oz of Honeydew to get the same consistency of foam.

So while any soap probably could be used, quantity vs. price is my determining factor.

:iagree:But just to stay on level ground, I started (as I mentioned) using my shampoo's "straight".

I've tried various dilutions, with of course various results. The thing is, you can change the soap dilution at the mixing end of the cannon (or gun). Whether diluting or "straight" Hyperwash puts out thicker, longer lasting foam.

Beyond all that.... everything since last year has been going into the cannon at 100% and I tend to use less (of everything) by not diluting the shampoo(s). Just that since Hyperwash was introduced into the 'mix' I use half as much as I ever did. Where I used to use half a bottle (of diluted) product I get away with just a 2~3 ounces now. Took some getting used to as I'd pour a bottle of shampoo, then half a bottle, and pour whatever was left into a 64oz storage bottle. But nowadays, if I pour half a bottle I end up with most of that left over. :)

When you use the Meg's Hyperwash in the cannon, how much do you use? When I use Mr Pink, I mix approximately 2oz with hot water in the cannon bottle. Same with Hyperwash?

Also, when you say "sticky," is it difficult to rinse off? I feel like Honeydew is a bit more difficult to rinse and that's the reason I prefer Mr Pink. Do you think I'll like Hyperwash considering this?

Finally, is there a Megs small bottle equivalent to Hyperwash so I don't have to get a gallon in order to try it?

I used to measure my soaps and try to put X amount of water in there to dilute, but honestly I pretty much stopped doing that.

It is easier of course to pour a thinner solution through a funnel into the bottle because a thick soap doesn't want to pour through that tiny hole! :laughing:

I was like you back then, in the I would do about a 50-50 water to soap solution and put that in the bottle. (Or at least some sort of water to get soap to flow.)

But of course the more you dilute it... the less foam you have. It's a catch 22 of sorts.

And as I said earlier I would pour a full bottle of soap solution and use most of it or at least half of it. (Thats doing the vehicle twice of course.)

I have since found that putting this soap in the bottle undiluted / straight works better and I'm using less soap. Why? because you can control the dilution ratio with the knob so if its too thick run more water through it if its too thin run less water through it.

It's adding z hyper wash which has and saying dilution ratios where I started REALLY CUTTING back on the amount of soap I use.

I'll put half a bottle of soap in there and when I'm finished sometimes it looks like the level has gone down maybe an inch... MAX. :D (Whete it used to use half a bottle or more.)

I don't think it's hard to rinse, and primarily all I'll use when washing is a little 1700 psi / 2 gpm electric pressure washer. I very seldom use the hose and nozzle when washing I just leave the pressure washer hooked up.

Is it harder to rinse than say Gold Class? Uhhh ABSOLUTELY you betcha'! But it cleans a LOT better and while doing it..... I honestly use a LOT less soap, yet have far superior lubricity along the way. As Charlie Sheen would say... "winning". :laughing:

Smaller bottles? I have not seen them. Sorry.... :dunno:

I guess I'll have to order it again to find out. Got a polite "We can't find this in stock and not due to get any until May 24th" from the place I ordered it.. I still have a 1/2 gallon of Honeydew :)

I have the Auto Geek foam gun and use Mr. Pink (CC) and seems to work really well.

It does smell sweet but could not identify the scent.
 
The pinnacle stuff seems to work really well. The only issue is the bugs LOVE it. My car has been the new landing pad for anything flying in the state of Massachusetts.
 
I bet it adds a layer of safety. If you leave it and let it linger, theoretically you'd have a layer of soap to improve the lubricity before doing a pass with a sponge/mitt.
 
What about pressure washers, what are you all using? My family has an outdoor power equipment business and I ordered a electric Briggs and Stratton ( https://www.briggsandstratton.com/us/en/pressure-washers/pressure-washers/1700-max-psi-model-020511 ) and I was all excited to foam up my GTI and nada :( I don't think the psi or gPm is enough.. I had no foam, just soapy water.... I know the foam cannon works, I used it at work with our commercial hotsy machine.. I'd like to stay electric, what do you all recommend?
