Fuzion over Zainos

Back in the day I knew a guy on one of the F-body forums who owned a Firehawk and a Comp T/A that he coated with Zaino every weekend. By the time he finally got rid of the cars, he claimed to have had upwards of 500 coats of Z2 on them

Opti-Coat what? :joking:

sounds like Wolfdog ... he is now over on the corvetteforum with about 45 coats of Z on his Vette. He often discusses never needing to ever polish and his past rides.

Yep, that's him! Used to use the screen name "KenC" back then. He was always a good guy... crazy as hell, but a good guy :xyxthumbs:

I easily had 400 coats on the Mark 8 I just sold.
People asked if it was new when it was 12 years old with almost 100K on the clock.
We did some traveling in that car (me and the iPod)

I like the Zaino line but often challenged the 10-15-20 or more coats of a product. I see it more as wasted product versus better looks. I think two coats of anything should work well enough.

I have several die hard Zaino customers that swear each additional coat I apply(while they watch and smoke cigars) makes their paint look better......That's why I charge ala carte per coat. :D

This is a quick pic of my hood with one coat of Fuzion applied on Friday. I was at a Tacoma meet yesterday near the bay in windy weather. I did not do a wipe down before the pic.

I have not buffed the car nor applied any wax since late last summer when I applied 3 coats of Zaino then topped with 2 coats of Fuzion.

It has been my experience that after 5 coats of Zaino a dark color will start to shimmer in appearance. Any additional cotes of Zaino will not improve the finish.

Nice.
If it wasn't blowing 20 I'd be on it today.
Maybe tomorrow night....

My 1st experience with Zaino was with the Mark 8 a couple of posts above. Long before I learned anything about pain correction.
The car barely shined at all, my best guess is that it was covered with sand and someone washed it without even a rinse, let alone a bucket or 2.
I expected to have to paint the car but the mileage made it attractive anyway.
I found out about Zaino a month or so after I got it and figured what did I have to lose.
Claybarred and started layering, right around coat 6 of Z5 the car started to shine, by coat 12 I could see that it wouldn't need paint. By coat 18 it looked like I did paint it.

Granted my experience with multiple layers of Zaino has been on 2 black Ford products but there is a difference with multiple layers, at least on my 2.
I used it on the wife's new rally red Honda Element and stopped at 6 coats because I was only looking for protection.

I don't detail for a living just for an OCD outlet so I have the time and passion to spend on my stuff.

And the answer is yes you can and with nice results!
Thanks 0Gauge4ME

I plan on using Zaino Z5 followed by Collinite 845. Is that overkill? How long should I wait before applying the Collinite? Lastly, is there a better/different product to use under the Collinite? Thanks.
