Looking for some feedback on a good portable light weight generator, I'll be running a 5 hp shop vac, a flex and Cyclo polisher, from what I have been reading the Honda 2000 seems to be the best way to go or should i go with the 3000? just wanted to know if anyone here owns one, if so does if have any problems with bogging
down when in use, also what's the noise level and weight of this generator. I will only be using one tool at a time of course. Just want all the info I can get before throwing down the cashFeed back please

I have just a power horse 2200 and it works great . i dont have a da polisher yet but it works fine for the vac and my carpet shampooer . never had a problem with bogging down

I HIGHLY suggest looking into Champion Power Equipment. I bought my first generator from Lowe's for $329 and used a 10% off coupon.

Champion has unbelievably awesome customer service and they are FAR cheaper as Honda's, but just as reliable.

While I have a Champion (and a Honda), and agree that Champions are great for the money, they certainly aren't a Honda. A Honda EU2000 has a 3 year commercial use warranty. It will power any single item you can plug into a normal 15 amp socket, will use 1/2 the gas of a comparable Champion. The inverter style Champions haven't been getting much love on the RV forums, lots of bogging/stalling problems with high peak loads The 3500 watt traditional style ones do get lots of love, in fact there is a 900 page long thread about them.

having been around my fair share of generators @ the racetrack, hondas seem to be the ticket as far as performance, reliability and noise levels are concerned. if it doesnt work out, resale value is high compared to other brands so youd get most of your money back

Rather than starting a new thread I figure to piggy back off this one.
Feed back please
ALL WHO HAVE GENERATORS/INVERTORS POST PHOTOS
and list what equipment and how many items you connect to generator and list positives & negatives of unit such as noise level- using one item at a time and so on
even post photos with items connected to unit. THANKS to all in advance

I own the HONDA EU2000. just bought one new for $1,075 from a local supplier. It can power all of my items (FLEX 3401, UNILUX 3000 steam cleaner, 5.0 HP rigid vacuum, AR Blue Clean pressure washer, and some other stuff) Obviously I can't use them all at one time but how hard is it to unplug something. Run time on a single gallon of gas is 9 hours. Super Quiet (can easily hold a conversation standing over it)

Its also a very nice looking unit, as none of the insides are exposed.

Plus, you can rely on Honda to make great generators.

Okay, a post about something I know a great deal about. Albeit my experience is with much larger generators (I work at a hospital).

First, think about the quality of the power you need. Rinky dink generators don't mantain good voltage and hertz. they drift a lot as load changes and there is a lot of distortion. Might not matter for a DA machine but you live in FL. and a hurricane could come along. Best to know it isn't going to blow up your refrig/AC/ TV/ etc.

Next is fuel economy. A traditional generator has to run at a certain RPM regardless of load to mantain hertz. An invertor type generator can vary RPM's yet give correct hertz. This could save you a lot of fuel. On the downside invertor based generators are more complcated and cost more.

Next would be noise. Honda tends to win. Noise can be very important. Or it might not matter at all. Your call.

Next would be how long it will live. A low RPM diesel winns but is porbably outside of what most can afford. Heck I'm a big hospital and even I can't afford a 1200 RPM machine.

In my experience an invertor based Honda is quiet, fuel efficent, has good power quality, and the motors last. However you do pay a premium price for the name.

Better names like Onan, Kohler. and Waukesha could be bought used and end up lasting a lot longer than a briggs and stratton based machine. All depends on how prtable you need to be. I did use a small yamaha generator and it was nice for what it was.

Nice insight thanks hope that you will post a video or photos soon, again thanks

Although mine is a bigger one for our home, we have a North Star generator that uses a Honda motor. About half the price of a full blown Honda.
We have one that is 6600 watts and 8800 peak.
Since buying it 10 years ago it has powered our home during many many outages including Super Storm Sandy and a freak early October snow storm the year before. It ran 7 days during Sandy and 6 1/2 for the snow storm. We did turn it off for about 2 hours a day to check the oil and such.
Just another brand to check out.
Good Luck.

I just ordered this Inverter Generator today at Home Depot

LIFAN 3,600-Watt Energy Storm 9 HP 270cc Inverter Gasoline Powered Generator

I use an inverter generator that I bought at Costco for $600. Its made by "Smarter Tools" but it has a Yamaha motor. Inverter generators are the way to go if you want less noise and smaller package. It's basically the same as the Honda EU2000, but just a cheaper version. When I first got it, I had some trouble getting it to restart after it had been running, but after about 4-5 uses, it starts right up every time on the first pull, even when I do a half-ass pull.

That sure was a life saver!

Any idea on how much W or V a generator needs to produce to keep a standard A/C on at a home? Or like a fridge?

It would depend on size and if you have a freezer or not.

I'll check it out and let you know.

Taken from Honda...

1200 wattage to start and 132-192 to maintain.

That maybe generic but hopdfully gives you an idea.
Sent you a pm Robert with a link to a chart.
