Have a extremely low mileage like new car. Intake manifold is a red crinkle coat from the factory - it is really dirty dusty. need to clean it and do NOT want to spray rise in with a hose like ppl do. Was going to either buy griots engine bay cleaner or cut simple green and water and spray, spray with water (from a bottle) and wipe - really paranoid about making the factory red crinkle coat finish chip or peel off.. any suggestions

The Griot's engine cleaner is still a rinse off product. I don't know that it's really different from an APC though.

I don't know if you want to use Simple Green, lot of history with that product with staining aluminum, which you likely have on the engine. May be fine, but I'm just giving you fair warning, IIRC there was so much noise about it that Simple Green came out with a separate product for aluminum.

You can try a waterless wash and see what that does for you. Steam would be my #1 choice if available to you.

Get one of those 1.5 gallon garden sprayers that have a wand and then fill it with water.
After carefully covering any electrical components, give the manifold a quick rinse. Afterwards spray the manifold with your apc (just about anything will work EXCEPT Simple Green). Brush with a bristle brush and then repeat the rinse cycle.

Any super gentle all purpose cleaner that most detailers are using?
For cars I was less paranoid about (but also didn't have this painted crinkle coat) I would use gunk engine bay cleaner spray cans, but they seemingly disappeared from my local shops
