Getting my drivers license!

Can you drive an auto for the test?

In Ohio, if you stalled it was an automatic failure. I don't ever stall now (5 years of driving stick), but after only 6 months of learning on a stick; I wasn't going to take that risk.
No, but it's not that big of a deal. I drive stick day in and day out for like, 7 months - not alot by any means, but enough that I am more comfortable with standard than I am with a slush box. Besides, it is only 4 points off if it's stalled.

But who cares. I passed! Im the MAN

Thanks all for the advice!

Don't sweat it. It's a piece of cake. I didn't even have to parallel park for my test.

As long as you don't speed, and can turn left and right. You should be cool, ha.

Thanks!
Now if only I can convince my parents to let me drive.....

don't worry you will drive alot. when i got my L my mom used my as her personal Chauffeur. not letting you take the car on your own will take some trust and trust takes time, bud. but hey your young and time is all you have...

I passed my road test just recently, I would personally reccomend driving with a parent for a couple more months before you start driving alone. It helps just to clean up your driving before you drive alone

So much for that therory Anthony :poke: I remember my instructor(TN). He was a military man. You could tell he was in no mood to take no poop off anyone and took his job as serious as an insurance adjuster. It was clipboard city

OP...I thought of a few more things that may help you:

1) Keep both hands on the wheel (10 ~ 2)

2) Take your time. Relax. Don't get in a hurry. Think about every move your getting ready to make

3) If it is a female instructor, right before she enters the car, smack her on her ass and tell her to "get in baby, we're going for a ride" Im the MAN

That's what I did :) in az it was hot, so when she came in, I asked her if she'd like the A/C higher(turned it lower on purpose:)) I then took the time to position the air vents on her. Boy was she happy. I got a 100% on the driving test:D also be normal and not tense, they'll notice. When she gets in the car, tell her how she's doing. Now if you get a guy, I got nothing for ya.

Congratulations young fella!!

When I got my license, I had to feed and water the horse and make sure all the deposits were made before we left... :D

Took my road test on a December day in the Adirondacks in my parent's 1984 Mercury Marquis station wagon. It snowed about 8 inches the morning of the test and many of the side roads had not been plowed by the time I started. So I slipped and slid around every corner but was able to keep it under control for the most part and in my lane. Needless to say, I got stuck doing the K turn. After about 5 minutes of back and forth I finally got free. I thought for sure I failed. backthe

I took mine in TN and it was a big joke. I had my permit for all of 3 months, and passed the DMV test with one error. This is basically how it went:

Pull out here, take a left here, drive a half mile, take a right (this stuff went on for about five minutes). Really short and basic, I drove through a neighborhood by the DMV.

When I finished I got out of the car and the instructor followed. "Great job Theodore, just make sure you don't creep out into the road so slowly when you come to a stop sign and you will be fine." The instructor said.

She was refering to a stop sign on an angled T section, where a bush had grown to the point that you could not see oncoming traffic unless you were on the other side of the road.

Are you me? I got docked for the exact same thing!

But it was funny, I took drivers ed when I was 14 and never turned 15 during the class. Someone never saw my birthdate year, only that it was October. I bet out kids who had been 15 for a long time, so I had my permit a year, and even expired before I got my license.
