Getting new shop ready...

Wow! How exciting! :dblthumb2:

Thats a fantastic looking shop mate, well done. Plenty of room, love the idea of using the spray booth for corrections & coatings. Really neat having floor drainage & yes - definitely a great spot for a car show out the back! :xyxthumbs:

Did you go for this shop in addition to your other shop or is this one now the new & one & only?

I like it a lot! I'm so stoked for you! :props:

Happy detailing, all the best!

Really great news there Kevin!:dblthumb2:

So you moved into a new shop for my birthday huh?

Nothing like seeing all your hard work paying you back. Before long you'll be sitting in that air conditioned office keeping up with accounts, bookings, customers, vendors, and the logistics of it all while watching your crew TCB. Yep, good ol' Elvis.... er Kevin.... TCB (takin' care of business). :D

Ahhh... but Kevin might argue that his old job as head engineer at Hilton had better, more stable, and certainly shorter hours. ;) I know for 18 years I ran my first business I thought any day that you didn't put in 12 hours something just had to be wrong. (Was 11 years before we took a REAL family vacation for more than a long weekend.) Wasn't uncommon to start at sunrise and pull back in the driveway before sunset (on early days). Can't remember the times when I'd run calls all day, come home for dinner and a 1~2 hour rest (hoping to get a nap in) and then leave at midnight to be in Tampa, or Miami, or DC the next morning for a Mercedes dealer trade. Drop the one I took, grab that new puppy and be back in Atlanta for a late lunch. Catch up on calls that day and hopefully get some (well deserved) sleep come nightfall.

Then when you're the boss you have to be the first one in, the last one out, and the ONLY one that carries the entire load.

Funny thing that..... even though the hours are longer, the load is heavier, and the days off are few and far between, the autonomy that comes with it, and the pride that you put into it..... is the REAL reward. :dblthumb2:

Loving that paint booth Kevin, that'll come in handy.

But brother.... having a couple lifts handy would be what I'd be absolutely IN FRIGGIN' LOVE with! :buffing:Wow... no more bending over... SIGN ME UP! :props:

The lift will come in handy.
It's on the other side of the shop though, oh well it's there when the old back is tired. Lol

Thanks everyone for the congrats.

Kevin, that is awesome!!! Looks like you're really goin for it. I'm envious of the shop, but at the same time love my mobile business and all that comes with it. Having a shop like that might cause me to change my mind though. Truly awesome! Have fun with it!!

I thought about branching out and have a mobile division but I'd have to really give it a lot of thought.

Thanks man.

For now I'll only be working out of the new shop, maybe, just maybe later I could open the other one back up but for now I'm just enjoying the new shop.

The painting booth and floor drains really sold me on the shop.

Hey Kevin.

Hows the new shop going? Space working out good?

Space is good but I'll out grow it it seems, there's a two year old shop right next door that I could buy for a great shop.
May buy it this week.

Here's a few pictures of it.

There are five large bay doors, an office, kitchen, loft to keep stock and a lot of space.
Another selling point for me is it comes with a lot of land and has concrete all the way around the large shop.
If I do get it I'd get it for an amazing price, this would be our main home.

Akers are moving so fast man.
I'd like to also sell products being I'd have room for it.

Holy cow, I guess I missed this thread--what a great find, former bodyshop! The pictures from today are of the shop next door? What are you going to do with it if you buy it now?

If I buy this shop it would be used for detailing, tinting and audio-video service.
However the main reason for the buy would be for my detailing business.
One thing I'd add to it is a climate controlled booth for coatings and to also do paint corrections, the office space has cooling, I could tie in the booth to the existing cooling.

I'll also would keep the space I now have for overflow.

Have to figure out how to go about selling products being there's no place around here that offers good detailing products.

The pictures here is of the shop I'm thinking of buying, it's right next door to where I'm located now.

So are you leasing the place you just moved into, or did you buy it?

This one here I'm buying.
Not much work I'll have to do on it being it's only two years old.

The shop I'm in right now I'm renting from a good friend of mine.
I'm buying the shop from him.
