Ok given that this wheel cleaner is PH Neutral, as is IRON X, and Iron X can be used as a wheel cleaner, do you guys think that GG wheel cleaner could be used as an iron decontaminater? I know of one company that turned their iron color changing wheel cleaner and turned it into a paint cleaner, so why couldn't GG HD wheel cleaner be used as it? Any input?

I have been wondering the same question as well. I currently have IronX and the GG HD wheel cleaner and the solution looks exactly the same. I wonder if they're interchangeable..

If it can be used as an iron decontaminater, it would be a lot cheaper solution. I might have to try this tomorrow and report back.

P.S. I won't be using it on my Camaro. I'll use it on my sister's Ford Escape since it is white and it'll show everything because it hasn't been washed since she got it 2 years ago lol. :props:

Ok so I did the test today and it actually worked! I will post pics after dinner tonight. The only thing that it did not take care of was the paint chips, but idk if Iron X would have even taken care of the iron in these chips?

You can't use IronX on chrome. You can use GG HD on chrome.

So you're saying that GG HD would be safer anyways? I even let it dry on the paint and it washed right off without any ill effects.

P.S. I wouldn't do this all the time I just wanted to test it.

Was your sister just glad that her Escape was clean?

Ahhh...hope she likes it and hope the detail helps her get more money out of the Escape

Here is the paint soaking in the HD Wheel Cleaner. As you can see there is iron particles stuck in the paint.

Time to break out the clay.

The clay after just the front passenger side fender. This car hasn't been clayed in nearly 3 years.

This is the paint after I clayed the panel.

Here is the HD Wheel cleaner dwelling a second time. As you can see there are some iron spots still left on it, but it is where there are paint chips that go down to the bare metal.
And the bottom part of the second image is a section that I never touched the first time. You can see a major difference.

Here is what the paint looked like just after I sprayed the second coat off.

Like I said in the other thread Iron X works but it sucks compared to all the pictures that people show off when they clean with Sonax FE/Griot's HD/Brown Royal etc etc.

I did not realize that GG HD Wheel Cleaner was safe for paint - but I have thought of the same. Any problem with it etching the paint?

Nope it didn't etch at all. It's safe on paint because it's safe for painted wheels. Corey I was just going by what I had heard. Thanks for the info!
