Rinse
Foam
Rinse
Foam
Wash 2BM
Rinse

Is that correct?

Thanks.

If my car is bad I will rinse foam rinse then with a 2bm I will spray the foam into the mitt as I'm wiping the car. I've done many ways I just like to do this way

It's whatever you prefer, but I like to do the initial rinse before the foam...just a personal preference.

Yesterday on the wife's Explorer, when I got to the 2bm, I experimented with 2 Rinse Buckets/Double grit guards in each...and just foamed as I went, instead of a second soap bucket. I must say, it was rather enjoyable...except I need to get a holder or something for the foam gun, lol.

Works pretty good doesn't it? Do you just lay your foam gun down, or hold it the entire time? Everytime I laid it down it started to leak a bit, so I just put it in the between the buckets, but it was a little annoying. I'm looking for a holder of some sort, something at where I don't have to bend over all the time.

Sorry for the threadjack OP.

Yes it does work i would not do if the car was really dirty.. I think i held on to it the whole time.. But i hear u about a holder of some kind maybe we create something and sell it lol.

Thanks Hamlyn, I used to be subscribed to Larry's channel. I've done that method and didn't care for it...the enjoyment of a new process soon wore off and it was more of a pain holding the gun and mitt, dragging the hose around, rinsing off the media. I realize it's a very safe method, so others may find it useful though, thanks man.

My logic says that by rinsing before your initial foam, you have the opportunity to remove some of the surface dirt and soften the rest, for relatively little effort/cost/time....

This then allows the foam to work on whatever rinsing could not remove and you therefore are not wasting foam trying to remove dirt you could have removed with just water.

Of course spraying the foam onto a dry car may allow it to dwell a little longer than if it were to hit wet paint and start running off/diluting.

And just to reinforce that there is no "right way" and everyone is different, I will offer how I do things, which differs in its logic than Lawrence above me (sorry, Lawrence. I don't want you to think I am picking on you, you're just the closest to my post!)

I will foam first, before the initial rinse. The logic behind this is if the surface is already wet, then the foam that loosens dirt and other contaminants has more time to sit on the paint surface, rather than flow off of an already wet surface.

My method is:

Foam
Rinse
Foam
Bucket wash with pre-foam each panel before the bucket gets there
Rinse
Foam
Rinse
Final rinse

I know it may seem like overkill, and it very well may be. The main reason why I do the foams subsequent to the bucket wash is to use all of the soap solution in the foam gun (makes easier storage).

I sort of use a 0 bucket method. I rinse, foam, use 4 wet megs wash mitts and work my way clockwise around the car top to bottom. If one side of the mitt gets dirty I switch to the other side, then when I see dirt on that side I switch to the next wash mitt. No going back and forth getting new soap on a dirty wash mitt. Once the entire car has been washed I rinse and then sheet and finally blow dry.
