Here I am at 16 with my first car..![]()
Oh boy, that sounds like trouble. Polishing that IROC must have brought back some memories.

I think it went to Dodge then and they had an IROC Daytona??
I think I remember that...or am I thinking of the GLH's that 'Ol Shel did for them? For a while I wanted one of those Daytona's, whether it was the IROC or the GLH.
The IROC Daytona was indeed a thing, had the Lotus-developed head a d made 224 hp, same engine that was in the Dodge R/T. The GHL-S, both Omni and Charger body styles, used the all Mopar 2.2L turbo but was intercooler making 174 hp compared to the 150 hp of the standard GLH turbo.I think I remember that...or am I thinking of the GLH's that 'Ol Shel did for them? I'm not 100% of the year for the Riveria turbo but it was the T-type and an easy was to tell a Riv T-type were amber parking lens under the headlights and special turbine wheels.I didn't remember it being that early, and I don't remember the Riv having a turbo, unless that was a T-Type, which as I have said, I remember being later. I'm going to have to look to see if I have a '79 Riv brochure. I'm not disagreeing with you, I just don't remember it that way, of course, it was a couple of years ago. The '79 Riv was on the cover of C/D when it came out, I have that issue...somewhere.
Similarly, I remember that Indy Pace Car Replica being later in the 80's, but apparently not.

If you finished that with a rotary that is impressive.
Thank you for the correction, to make it more confusing they did use T-type on the Rivs in the mid 80'sI definitely tried, with a Flex cordless rotary and waffle jeweling pad, but I couldn’t make it work.
I wanted that bragging right, I’m not gonna lie.
Finished with the Flex Cordless gear driven on speed 3 with an LC force Red pad and 3D One.

What '81-'82 GM car wasn't a dog? They were struggling with the new EPA regs and trying to get the CCC/MCS carbs to work. That might have gone on thru '83 & '84 where everything was a dog until they started with the MFI in '85.
The 87 was rare with the 350 because it was put in the car late in the model year.Nice job.
My first car was an 87 IROC w/ 350.
Biggest POS. I was a dumb 16yr old and all I thought was "Big V8, good."
Transmission went out about a month after I bought it, suspension was completely worn out, engine rarely ran good, was missing rear sway bar., tires were trash.....and the beat goes on.
That car turned me off Chevy ever since even though I didn't do my homework on it.
My Aunt/Uncle on the other hand also had an 87 IROC, but theirs was pristine.
When they sold it a few years ago it had something like 15k miles. Sat in the garage on carpet squares most of it's life.

Yeah, but that's the thing, some other 16 yo had that car before you and beat the crap out of it--that happened to all the Z-28's and Trans Ams. I remember looking into the service area at the Pontiac dealer and virtually every car up on the lift was a Trans Am, blown trans, etc.
Sorry Eric about derailing the thread, just brings back (bad) memories.![]()
