I always say Florida is the place people love to hate, because for such a crummy state, they can't seem to move down here fast enough it seems.Yeah, it's bad. I think I'm one of the few natives in South Florida. None of my neighbors are from here and I've never met anyone in Miami from here. But central Florida and the west coast seem to still have alot and that's good. I always thought Ocala would be a nice place to live or Port St. Lucie maybe. For me, I just have to be not too far from the beach. I don't think I could ever go away from the water.

I think the item that people do not realize about Florida is there are alot of medium income jobs but yet property values, and taxes, as well as insurance have outpaced the area. So Floridians are packing up , selling for high dollars, and moving north. Meanwhile the people moving into Fl for retirement have to be wealthier now. As such the areas are changing quickly as are the individuals. There are however benefits to Fl like weather and no state tax. But as with anywhere there are good and bad ...

Ocala is booming as well.....very nice area though. I work in Crystal River, which is on the water on the west coast, 25 miles west of me. Nice area too![]()
FloridaNative said:Yeah I know Inverness. Ocala is beautiful! I've always liked it there. And silver springs is so close! I love the springs. I dove Blue Spring once. My brother and step dad dove the caves under those two big logs, but I was too chicken. I don't do caves. I've had every emergency that can happen to you when you're diving and with my kind of luck, I don't want to take chances on caves.
Do you know what a single family home is going for in Ocala now? Or what the price per acre is? I would actually like to build a house rather than buy one so that I could make it concrete.
Ding Ding Ding Ding we have a winner :applause: the pay is garbage and living expenses are going up. My parents house insurance has gone up to were they are paying an extra $300 more then last year it crazy. And more and more insurance companys are dropping hurrican insurance cause it's costing them too much. Right now we pay $699 for a 2 bed 2 bath (carpet floors), swimming pool, gated community, a mini gym (more like a small room with a treadmill and 2 exercise machines). A place like this in SoFlo would bring in an easy $900-$1000 in a good neighbor hood (with low wages). The house my parents are looking to buy sits on 11 acres and will be sold to them for just under 200g's.killrwheels@autogeek said:look who's back, sexy Jen !! (actually I saw your PM first)
