Good APC

Ok thanks for the info. I guess I need to just try several to see what I like. Now, which to try first...OPC or Meg's. Haha

Late suggestion: Chemical Guys All Clean+, I've had great results with it. Can be diluted to whatever strength you need.

For engine tires and wheel wells I use Purple Power. Make sure you follow the ratio's on the back of the bottle. They are there for a reason. I read of people saying it will whiten black plastics. I have used it on many engines and never had any issues but I followed the directions. I never had a problem with it. $13 for 2.5 gallons.
For interiors I use OPC. Strong enough to remove scuff marks and gentle on inside interiors surfaces.

Why does Simple Green suck?

It just sucks.

Meg D101 full strength on tires-Roshan did a great video comparing numerous APCs and D101 won hands down. Optimum Power Clean for general purpose usge and P21S TAW for use on paint & decontamination. I would probably just use the TAW but it's pricey and the Optimum does a great job.

Ya, I think it's a bit pricy to use D101 full strenght when you can use Super Degreaser 4:1 to do tires. Maybe it's just me but I hate paying 4 times more LOL

APC+, Power Clean, P21S, Megs Super D are all I use, and I keep adding a few for various tasks!

You cant get megs apc + anymore except in 5 gal. Sad news

Zep 505? That stuff is cheap at Home Depot. Is it safe for everything on a car?

I've also seen Purple Power recommended here. Is that safe as well? I have a gallon of it but wouldn't have thought it was safe for my car.

505 is made to be used on hard surfaces. You cant use 505 on chrome or aluminum. So i am going to say keep it away from paint and from reading the warnings keep it away from your skin, eyes and wear a mask.

The purple power I have is not paint safe.

Hey talking about degreasers, have any of you guys tried using industrial grade degreasers? I went to a local janitor store this week and they had a gallon of degreaser for 10$. I start to read the label and it states that it dilutes 100:1 for light cleaning and 10:1 for heavy cleaning. That stuff seems pretty powerful, I am wondering how it would fare on tires and engines.

I have tried the Meg's Degreaser. Its useless. The smell also reminds me of vomit. I bought a gallon of it - thought it may work on tires. No good.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Amazing Roll Off

stuff works great

I have Megs D108 Super Degreaser on the way, but I am a little worried. I hear that it works well because it's pretty harsh (heard it will eat through thin plastic containers), but I need a good degreaser for PAINTED areas like in the gas filler door, door jambs, and rocker panels and also plastic trim. Does anyone know if it is safe for painted areas when diluted to 4:1? That is how I planed to dilute it to use on wheels, engine bays, and wheel wells. I rather only have one degreaser so I can go around the car and only have to spray one product. Saves time and money. Just want to make absolutely sure before I start spraying it on a customers vehicle.

P21S TAW seems pretty safe and well reviewed. I love it. It can be diluted as well. Only problem, it costs $$$

What is the problem with that? Get a petcock top and you can use this stuff for a long time. I still have part of a 5 gallon that I had 10 years ago.

HUMP

Meg D101 full strength on tires-Roshan did a great video comparing numerous APCs and D101 won hands down. Optimum Power Clean for general purpose usge and P21S TAW for use on paint & decontamination. I would probably just use the TAW but it's pricey and the Optimum does a great job.

I bought a gallon of D101 based on Roshan's review and was disappointed with it on tire cleaning. I went over the tire 3 times full strength with a foaming nozzle and Tuf Shine tire brush. The first time the foam turned brown immediately and then scrubbed until there was brown lather. Rinsed it off and applied again with a little brown foam. After the third time the foam stayed white after scrubbing but my brush was still black. I never had this problem with OPC 1:1. I sprayed my brush with D101 and scrubbed it against a grit guard and it didn't come off. It left my brush black and sticky. I then sprayed OPC and it washed away easily. I then sprayed OPC on the tire I just cleaned with D101 and was able to get some brown foam. Telling me that dilluted OPC has better cleaning ability than D101 straight. I never touched D101 again.

In my brief hobbyist experience, Chemical Guys Grime Reaper wasn't any better than soap and water on wheel wells.

Meguiar's APC+ pretty darn good and at an incredible price point. My local shop says it will be back on shelves within two months as Meg's had to replace or recertify just one specific chemical.

In the meantime, Optimum Power Clean has become my favorite and hands-down the most effective for me.
