Good starter wax...

I've been thinking about it too. Mark had it but traded it off I believe. I just reduced my stock but it's so addicting to try new things!

I traded with Mark. The FK1000P has a unique look to it. It almost looks like you put a wrapper around your car. It really gives the paint a very, very glossy look. I am testing out it's durability versus 845IW during this winter. We'll see who comes out ahead. So far I like it alot for my silver vehicle.

One of the many things I learned when I left the parts store waxes was what the real cost of the more expensive stuff was and the contrast in results. I used NXT 2.0 and thought I was Paul Dalton. It lasted about two weeks in the Arizona sun and cost about 14 bucks a bottle with about 1/4 of it needed to do the car.

Then, in a moment of clarity, I decided to go for something "more expensive". My first expensive wax was Pinnicle Souveran and I cringed when the total of my order came up. It was my first wipe on/wipe off product and after clay, polish, and cleansing lotion, I waxed the whole car in about 10 minutes. The results were spectacular and I'm still on the same jar a year and a half later (waxing once a month).

I figure this wax is about half the cost of the NXT at my rate of use and the results are way better. Bottom line: you get what you pay for, I should have gone this way in the first place.

any advice on a good wax for a beginner such as myself? i currently use NXT 2.0, but want something better. i've been looking at P21s %100 carnuba. is there anything better for around the same price or even cheaper?

Thanks

how many applications do you think i could get out of this sample? keep in mind i have a mid-sized truck...

Wolfgang Fzion Carnauba Polymer Estate Wax, carnauba car wax, show car wax, polymer wax, paste wax, Wolfgang German car care

Funny, you go from asking for a good "starter wax" for a "beginner such as myself" to asking about Fuzion?! That's hardly a beginner wax, more like top of the line stuff that pros and serious amateurs use.

What do you mean when you say you are a beginner? Does your paint have swirls or have they been removed? I.e., has all the correct prep work been done? This is needed in order to get all the benefits available from a quality wax like Fuzion, which, by the way, is nothing less than fantastic!

Ooooh! I'v got so many waxes and sealants already that I am certainly not looking but now you've got me interested! I'm making a note of this one.

I've used (and like) FK 1000p, but when it comes to the look that it gives, it is definitely not my favorite sealant. It gives a good shine, but it really does lack any depth to speak of. It is also not kind to trim. Lasts well and protects even better....but just doesn't quite give the look that I want.

try signature series 2 sometime its great!!!!
That was actually gonna be my first choice, but the price of the XMT 180 made my wallet more happy (and i read a few good reviews about it). $50 is about the most ill ever pay for a wax, so the SS 2 will deff be an option when im ready for somethin better.

this is exactly what im going through right now. the regular "over the counter" waxes just werent doing it for me anymore. I hope this XMT 180 will be a nice upgrade from my NXT 2.0

well the sample of the Fuzion was in the same price range i was lookin for, but i ended up buying XMT 180...

my paint has no swirls or anything like that. iv already clayed/polished and put 2 coats of NXT. i just wasnt satisfied with NXT which is why i was lookin for something better

Just curious why you didn't go with any of the waxes that were suggested? Going from thinking Fuzion to XMT180 is a huge difference.

I'm in Rob's camp. Fuzion is a terrific high end wax but it's not a beginner wax unless you are a beginner with unlimited funds.

I was surprised that you didn't try DP PoliCoat, Natty's Blue, SigII or MaxWax, which were suggested as great starter options.

Let us know how you like the XMI180.

your right, paying $50 for a 3oz sampler compared to $30 for 6oz is a huge difference. im sure the waxes that were suggested are awsome, but the XMT just seems like a better fit for me, not to expensive, but hopefully better then the NXT im using.

i was seriously considering SigII wax, but the XMT just seemed like a better option for me. Its not like i have a show car or anything, i Just want a better wax then what you can get from autozone.

I'll move up to the $50+ waxes depending on how i like this stuff. IDK what i was thinking considering the Fuzion wax...

Thanks for all your help guys

No worries. It was just kind of funny that there were a number of $20-$25 recommended options that probably would have made you go ga ga.

Enjoy!

Pinnacle is a fool proof pick. Although i did not try the xmt. i did buy the 100$ pinnacle paste and it is the best wax ever. So the one you bought cant be far behind. Happy detailing.

I think that people are a bit hard on nxt 2.0. It isnt that bad. It isnt pinnacle but it is pretty good.

Thanks! i hope i made a good choice, although im starting to think i shoulda gone with the SigII... O well maybe next time

SigII or MaxWax Good to start with and good to stay with. Plus they both tend to show up on BOGO fairly often.

i must say that pboys liquid natty blue is a pleasure to work with and priced rite

Anything from Meguiars, Mothers, Collinite, Duragloss, and Poorboy.

I did the Menz powerlock and 845iw combo and really like it. I plan to try the SigII when I am out of 845iw.
