just to let you know, you can trade directly with Griots Garage if you still have the packaging. I was unhappy with my GG 3" and returned it and got a movable chair thing in return. all i had to do was pay the return shipping cost.

I ended up getting a Rupes 75 mini for a 3" polisher

If nothing else, I love these for machine applying wax and machine sanding.

Can't image not having one for both of the above.

Anyone that works in a body shop should have one of these as a sander.

Anyone that prefers to machine apply their waxes or sealants should have one of these to make the job quick and easy.


Machine Waxing

Next step... seal the paint with Pinnacle Black Label Synergy

Most people hand apply their waxes but I'm a machine guy. By this I mean I try to do EVERY step by machine and the reason why is because the human hand cannot compete with a machine when it comes to creating the best results. Period.


First a quick lesson on how to machine apply a wax using the Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher with Rupes 4" white foam finishing pads....

Dry to a haze
These next pictures show a thin machine applied coat of Synergy drying. This wax needs to dry to a haze before removing.

Machine waxing is the only way to go...

the main reason i bought the GG3 when it first came out was to wetsand headlights, apply lsp's, and correct small areas (stereo face, platic trim, etc.). it was never meant to do heavy correction and for that i would just use the PC/GG6 with a smaller backing plate for that task...

You can cut the BP an inch which would make it a 2inch polisher and then just buy the new lake country 2" pads. Just a suggestion.

I know a girl with show horses and she use her 3" Griots to buff their hooves.

I kid you not. Her truck however does look like the inside of a barn.

Yep.... we teach that in all our detailing boot camp classes along with how to use this 3" polisher to machine sand paint....





Headlight Sander - Takes the work out of sanding headlights...


I've been using the 3" Griot's Garage for dampsanding paint and now for machine wetsanding plastic headlights and it works great!

The below pictures are taken from my Detailing Boot Camp Class May 5th and 6th, page 2 where I demonstrated the 3" Griot's Garage Mini Polisher for machine sanding plastic headlights.


First we went over handsanding using the Meguiar's backing pad for their discs. I show hand sanding first so after seeing or actually using your muscles to sand plastic I know the students will love and prefer working by machine.

Next up is headlight polishing, for this we used the Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Correction System with a twist, I demonstrated the Meguiar's backing pad for the 3" Sanding Discs but then shared how they also fit on the Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher and how working by machine takes all the work out of the project.

Griot's 3" Mini Polisher works great as a 3" Dampsander


Most people don't need to wetsand and probably shouldn't wetsand but if you're ever working on a project that requires sanding then do yourself a favor and get yourself a Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher and then get the Meguiar's 3" Unigrit Finishing Discs and the 3" Interface Pad and you're going to love what this little tool can do.


Here's a few pictures from our recent Wetsanding Project where we machine dampsanded my friend Jay's 1989 K5 Blazer which you're going to see on the 2nd Season of our TV show, What's in the Garage".

Because the 3" sanding and finishing discs have such a small footprint the are EASY to control so you can sand close to edges or tape lines with accuracy.

If you're NEW to any type of sanding, the Griot's 3" Mini Polisher used as 3" Dampsander is a great way to learn and increase your confidence in the art of machine sanding.

get the CarPro Flash Spot Repair Pad - 3 1/2 inch, and now you will have a use for the GG 3". i just used it on this Tacoma and these are the results i got from using the flashpads.
